Hi Guys,

Due to a 'pillock' (the only printable word I can call him!!) pulling out of a parking space as I was driving by!! front O/S wing and bumper are foobarred!!
So, can source replacements, but wondered if anyone had removed front bumper, and had any pics to make the job less stressfull.. Bumper needs to come off, as well as wing, If I can replace these myself, I can then get it all resprayed. Had a price to do it all at a bodyshop, and around £8-900, but can source parts for around £300 myself, and if I can fit, he will prep & spray for around £250, saving £250-350
(Said 'pillock' doesn't want to go through insurance, and to be honest, if it did, I think they would write my multi off..so, he's offered to pay if I can get work done at 'sensible' price)
Any pics or help greatly appreciated..

Will be working on the drive, as no garage or inside space sadly!!

It might make more sense to get the new parts sprayed before you fit them. Will make life easier for your sprayer friend (no masking and easier to handle) and will minimise time off the road, assuming it's driveable as it is at the moment.

I can't help with removal advice but I remember there being something on here about removing the bumper some years ago. It could also be worth a look in the How To section. The pictures on ePER might give you some clues as to where the fixings are. I do know that everything is bolt-on.

Hi W.M.F. did do a search for 'multipla bumper removal' but all it brings up a couple of posts asking how to remove the bumper, and a reply to 'soak everything in WD40 before hand, and it takes about 2 hours or so, (depending on how many knuckles you can skin, apparently, and your vocabulary of different swear words... :D).

It's still driveable, as bashed the jagged metal/plastic edges back as far as possible, and resorted to the good ol' GAFFA tape to secure and tidy it up to please the plod...(y)

Will have a word with sprayer, and get his opinion re spraying first.
(knowing how hard it is working outside/in driveway, on your own, I would probably ruin the finish before I got them on the car!!:()

Once the parts arrive, will look at them to establish where fixings are, and then draw up a plan of action.
Just wondered if anyone had a few piccies to guide me. (Am a retired aircraft engineer, so 'should' be OK (he says, fingers crossed!! :)) But always open to any sort of help to make life easier, at my age...

HughJarsse - Had a bit of a dig on ePER and the forum. You're right, there's not much of help when it comes to bumper removal. The posts I was thinking of were by momoe, but he didn't give much detail. There are some bumper-off photos here that may give some clues:

ePER just shows that there are 11 fasteners for the bumper (5 of one type, 6 of another), but doesn't say where they go. I think there are 3 on the rim of each wheelarch, perhaps hidden by the edge of the wheel arch liner, and some others on the bottom edge of the bumper.

Cheers W.M.F for that, though it's a 'mk1'and mine is a mk2 it might help to give an overall view.
Might wait until the new bumper turns up, then do the old trick of placing on ground in correct position, and looking at the holes in it, and trying to 'spot' the positions on old bumper, & mark with masking tape and a pen the locations. Should at least give me a fighting chance!!
Looks like a 'wheels off, arch liners out' as well, but then, as the wing has to come off to be replaced as well, as well as headlight out, might be a full day job (if we get a decent day!!)
