Does anyone know what route the rear screen washer pipe takes to the tailgate?
I don't want to risk taking off the head lining if it doesn't have to be done.
Having done all the air blast, guitar string and other tests, I think I need to replace the rear pipe completely.
Many thanks
Mike

You not getting water to the back? I have the same issue too. When I was testing it one day I noticed a load if water coming out from behind the bulk head, so was wondering if one of the one way valves have failed. Park on a slant and give it a test and see ?

Leave headlining alone for now.
On my 2003multi it enters cabin from engine bay through bulk head into right hand foot well.
It enters quite high up slightly to right of brake pedal ( if I remember correctly) . pull the carpet and sound proofing back you may have to remove some plastic trim on right side. there is a tube which joins the pipe from engine bay to pipe in body (this tube had come off on mine and just required pushing back together)
I think it then runs under plastic trim over right hand edge of floor.
Incidentally I had a problem with screen wash pump recently and the valve inside can stick so it only pumps one way ie only front or only back whichever way motor spins.
You may also consider taking the panel off the inside of rear door disconnecting the tube to washer jet , also disconnect tube at pump and try blasting air again from pump end.
Another forum member pointed out that on MK1 with fog lights the pump is accessible by removing relevant fog light, that made life easier for me.
I can't remember if there is an anti drain back one way valve in rear door but worth checking for one and checking it's not blocked.
Good luck and please post how you get on.

Hi Kimi, your car giving same symptoms as mine before I rejoined the pipes in drivers foot well.

Hi Mike, no idea what the route of the washer pipe is to rear washer, but I've just replaced the washer pump on my '01 Multi, and this is how you access it via the driver's side (UK) fog light (see photos below)...

Couple of points which might help in resolving the problem:

- One pipe off the pump goes to front washers jets, the other pipe goes to rear washer jet.

- I believe there is a non-return valve which can get blocked. To bypass the potential blockage (no idea where the valve is/was), I routed new pipe directly from the pump to the front jets. I wasn't bothered about the rear washer, so I just chopped and plugged the pipe up.

- After 4 years since the last pump replacement, the electrical connections onto my old pump were rusted to hell, so problem could be a bad electrical connection? I chopped off the female spade connectors on the wires to the washer pump and replaced with new, as you can see.

- Also, poor flow could be caused by blocked jets full of cr*p. I have just cleaned my front jets with very hot 50/50 vinegar and water (twice) plus agitation, then left overnight in water and washing up liquid. A lot of cr*p came out of them and they're squirting well again.

- You could try swapping the pipes round out of the pump, this would confirm/eliminate whether it is the pump that is the problem ie. it's only pumping out of one side to the front jets... Or stick a short piece of spare pipe on each pump outlet in turn and check it's pumping out of each side...

Why not just detach the old rear washer pipe from the washer pump, and route a *new* pipe from the pump to the rear washer jet by whatever route you find best? That's what I did with my front washer jets 4 years ago...

Mark

PS. From the photo, I think it's the left pump pipe that goes to the rear washer jet (in the photo on mine the left pipe is just a dummy piece of pipe plugged at the end). The right pipe is the new pipe I installed to go directly from the pump to the front jets (via the engine bay).
