Long term owners of the Multipla will be familiar with the front-end knocking signalling the routine job of having to replace the drop links on the front suspension. They don’t cost much £12 the pair aftermarket and it only requires four nuts to be removed (sometimes a pig to do!).

So without a fuss I bought Delphi links and replaced the NS one. Went for spin and the noise was still there. Jacked up the front again and was surprised to see the aluminium casting on the rear end of the wish bone had sheared off leaving just the outer bolt holding that end. Could have been nasty, but the flexing was giving enough noise as an alarm. There is no reason why it should fail like that as the two bolts hold it tight against the sub-frame. Next time you go to replace a droplink look at your mounting. Two pictures, the first lit up by torch the second off the car
