Hi,

I've just replaced the front wishbones on my 2001 JTD, everything went fine, (I highly recommend a 6 inch g-clamp for anyone doing this, it makes seating the rear bolts significantly easier) except on the passenger side, when removing the front smaller bolt in the aluminium side of the wishbone mounts, the bugger snapped on me. I've been trying to locate a replacement, but the threading seems to be a little unusual. Does anyone know where I can get anything that will do the job? It doesn't seem like anyone does anything like this? Thanks

They are in short supply. I was told by my local Fiat dealer a while ago that Fiat no longer stock them. I find that hard to believe. Don't be tempted to use a standard 8.8-grade bolt in their place. From memory, I think they're a metric fine thread and have a larger (flanged) head than a 'standard' bolt.

Find the part numbers on the forum ePER then go looking on ebay - widen the search to EU if necessary as they do come up on ebay.it quite often.

Those bolts do stretch, so don't be surprised that one of yours snapped. The get subjected to some pretty high loads and most owners don't replace them when they fit new wishbone(s), so will be getting old now.

EDIT: Bolt part numbers are:
60655491 (M10 x 35, 4 required)
7676542 (M10 x 62, 2 required)
60655492 (M10 x 81, 2 required)

As you can see, they're weird lengths. Google lead me here for the long ones:
http://www.alfaworkshop.co.uk/parts/GTV_Nuts__Bolts_Etc._.shtml

and here for the mid-length ones (that you're after?):

or

It might also be worth trying @Rytiss with those part numbers

The thread is M10 the pitch is 1.25mm
often quoted as M10 x 1.25
The strength grade is 10.9
After the bank holiday try local fastener suppliers.

I can order these from my OEM supplier, so I kind of think your dealer didn't want to bother. They are quite expensive though, ranging 9 to 14€!

Thanks guys. I was going to take out the wishbone bolts one by one to measure them, you've saved me the trouble. It's what makes this forum so useful. Also note bolts have 15mm flanged hex heads.

Not much difference in price between local main dealer and the alfaworkshop site/vendor linked above, so will probably get the long bolts from main dealer. Local nut and bolt place has quoted about 50p for the short bolt, however this is for an 8.8.

8.8 or 10.9? Have read on another site that 8.8 might be better because 10.9 is more brittle, a lot of force going through wishbone/bolts so 10.9 more liable to snap. Not my words. Anyone care to comment?

What’s stamped on the head of the originals?.... I’d get a chart for those and make sure the tensile and shear strength numbers are at least equal.

FYI Folks: I've just received the wishbone bolts from the main dealer - 10.9 is stamped on the heads.
