I have a 2000 petrol model and recently the middle larger silencer came apart at the seams. I had various quotes from 'specialists' ranging from £250plus to £350plus to replace the middle and rear sections.

I had a look on ebay and found that "zombie-cars" had the parts in stock.

I ordered what I thought was the correct version, the vendor phoned me to make absolutely certain as my reg no indicated a car 'on the cusp' between two different types of exhaust configuration. After checking underneath the car and phoning him back we ascertained the correct parts and they arrived the next day; I found a local garage with some spare time so got the parts fitted there, result, a job completed for £130.

Replacement was straightforward, there is no wiggling pipes up and over/around obstructions. An easy job with the car on a lift but not impossible on axle stands. A grinder is useful for getting off the rusted clamps and scoring the pipe that is being taken off, the joints were fairly well rusted together.

There seem to be three configurations for the centre section; a single large box, a small and large box placed in line, and a small and large box with the small rising upwards and to the side. Make sure you get the correct bits.
