I'm using the original head unit and the FM reception is really poor. The aerial is in properly. Is this a common problem? I don't want to spend money on a new head unit if its a simple fix :)

Cheers

Poor radio reception

My original Multi had the same problem.
Traced it to corrosion on the Aerial base.
It was so bad I couldn't take it off, due to corroded fasteners, and the difficulty in getting to them.
In the end I fitted a cheap screen-mount aerial, which worked fine.
Something like this . . .

I also had to buy an adaptor for the end of the cable as I recall, but you may find one that has the same fitting as your radio (or the original unit may be the same fitting, mine was an aftermarket unit).

Thanks, I'll check the base out

Poor radio reception

Just to clarify things, the corrosion was mainly between the Screw-in Aerial and the Base, the thread was almost completely gone, so much so that it made no difference to the reception if the Aerial rod itself was fitted or not.
There was also a fair amount of corrosion on the pivoting part of the mount.
