Technical anyone changed an inner tie rod?

Think I've got play on the inner tie rod or drumstick!
Has anyone ever changed theirs? How did you do it? I just know its one of those easy jobs that will take all day!

Anyone changed an inner tie rod?

The usual arrangement of the Tie-Rod is this . . .

A one-piece rod and ball-joint assembly (the R/H end), there's a threaded section on the end which screws into the steering rack, the body of the ball joint has flats on it for turning with a spanner.

How easy/difficult it is obviously depends on the access to it.

That's what I wanted to know if the access is a problem..
I know that they sell dedicated tool to grip the larger diameter end as I don't think turning the actual rod will be any good as it will just spin in its joint!
Looks like um going to have to remove the gaiter and have a look.
No doubt it will be a pain

we done croma one with molegrips, i ask mate with a garage if he had any special tools and he said he has just used water pump pliers for years, as long as you use thread lock on the new one and do it up tight it should be fine
