What are the running costs like on the old multipla?
I have been looking at getting one and wondered what they are like, is it common to have problems with the dpf and dmf?
I have had a few diesels that have ridiculous bills just for the parts when it comes to these. Are they reliable enough cars?

Parts are cheap, but I go through them at an unbelievable rate.
In fact just today I found out my turbo has stopped working.
I think my DMF is starting to go.
I've replaced nearly every suspension part, all the brakes, discs etc.
But I love the thing and I am sticking with it.

Even though they are so ugly
So the live up the the old fiat name then.
I saw that dmf parts are much much cheaper than any other I've had


Also i noticed on autotrader and honest john that the 0-60 time of one of the models is 7.7 seconds!! That can't be right?
On a 1.9?

I doubt any mk1 Multi's have DPFs

The only multipla's you will see doing 0-60 in that sort of time will have Polish number plates on! Equipped with a 20v turbo engine!

Certainly not on the round nose (Mk1). I think they came in on the square nose from about 2006, so even early ones of those don't have a DPF.

Ahh good, I wasn't sure. I hate any car with dpf or dmf.

Why

No issues with either tbh if the car is used properly and looked after.

Unforunatley the Multipla is a high maintenance car. They eat suspension components. Apart from the track rod ends everything has been replaced..I've had my for 5.5 years and have stopped looking at the previous invoices as they scare the crap out of me. This month has been another expensive one. Both strut top mounts have collapsed…£78 each anti roll bar bushes perished..£24 both anti roll bar links gone..£10 each and theres still a knocking noise poss an engine or gearbox mount. Did the radiator support bracket last moth £55!! Looked like swiss cheese with all the holes. Door hand le that stick up as the metal pin inside rusts and expands £31 each and theres 4 to do!My wife is the main driver using it for work. She does 18k per year. But as most owners we love it and can't think of another car that can carry a flat pack wardrobe and still get 5 people in.. goes like stink and get 40 plus mpg… But be prepared to have your hand in your pocket every month… Mines a mk2 55 plate done 121k now.. Multijet with dpf came in late 05/55 plate onwards… I even had one as a demo at the Fiat dealership where I worked as nobody else wanted it!

I haven't yet but its the costs when they do go. And I'd only be buying a 2nd hand car so never know how they been treated
