Hello any thoughts anyone?

My poor 1.6 petrol 2000 multipla has been having a bit of a hard time. Overheated twice but the head seems fine. Just about to rebuild her but the top of no 4 piston has got a nick out of the side and left a small deposit on the cylinder  which has come off with no damage.

Do I need to get a new piston?

Can I repair it?

Should I just put her back together and see how the pressure is?

I'm a bit flummoxed  any help or hints most welcomed

as long as the nick has not gone down to the first piston ring then it should be fine.

Thanks Gavlar

What if I can just see a very little bit of the ring?

Will that mean a new piston

seeing the ring is fine but if that nick has gone the back of the ring then there'll be a loss of compression. Pop a photo on.

Thanks, I've decided to put it back together and then do a compression test, see how it fires and take it from thers, Cheers :D
