Yep - hence the comment about (spit) Photobucket. I've previously updated a few of my other threads that were picture heavy, but hadn't got around to this one. It takes ages to find the photos and then piece threads like this back together especially when, as you said, the original was several years ago. However, with the recent topics related to rear suspension refurb'd on here, it made sense to sort this one out.

Btw - I didn't mention it in this thread, but steer well clear of KYB springs for the Multipla. Something I covered in no uncertain terms on another thread, but that's now buried in time.

Of the 4 new KYB springs I fitted when I did this rebuild, 3 had failed within 18 months (and less than 15,000 miles). I complained to KYB UK about it and got completely stonewalled. The rears failed by delaminating, so not only did they snap across the diameter of the wire but in doing so, also started to split along the length of the wire. That's a sign of seriously bad alloying of the steel and very, very poor quality control. When I spoke to someone at KYB, they told me at the time they had only brought around 200 Multipla spring sets into the UK because of low demand, so there's a good chance that even if one was to buy some now, they may come from the same batch.

I will never touch another of their products. The Bilsteins I replaced them with had a greater number of turns but seemed to give a firmer ride, which was curious. If you're after a softer ride, I've since heard some favourable comments about Suplex. A brand that I had down as second rate, but apparently they supply OEM springs to Jaguar. If that's a good sign I'm not sure these days, with the reports of JLR's mountainous warranty claims, but that's another topic....

Just Wow! Super attention to detail. Envious of that massive pile of new bits on your kitchen table and that rear subframe assembled looks too tidy to put on!
Understand about getting someone else to do your clutch & DMF too - I work about 10 miles from DAM Fiats in Wickford and he once quoted me about £350 which is a bargain for the knowledge and experience your get with them. I ended up doing the job myself on the square nose and I cant deny I had a massive smug grin on my face when It was spot on and super light. Now on my third round nose I need to do it all over again but experience tells me it's an absolute arse.
Anyway, as I've already said superb work and subsequent write up. Inspirational!

Thread is great and even better with all the photos restored.
Many thanks for doing this.

Fantastic standard of work.

A big thanks to all of the contributors of this thread, especially WMF for going through the pain in the first place and secondly for re-posting with the photos - what a marvel! I've got a new subframe (complete with bushes) waiting in the wings, which judging by the condition of the current subframe (during MOT - now an advisory!) will need replacing this year. What is it about the Multipla? You know it'll bite you again at some point, but there's just no substitute - nothing with six full sized seats - nothing so versatile - and certainly nothing with so much character. On our second Multi since 2004 and can't imagine being without it! (y)

Well done resurrecting the lost pics.

This reminds me of the hours I've spent under my various Uglies.

Ain't it satisfying to sit back with a brew in hand and see the beautiful results.

Someone said to me 'Love em or hate em - there's NOTHING to replace em'

Ain't sure if he was talking about the Bugs or his missis
