(The 1.9 JTD engine is used in a lot of fiat/alfa/lancia models, so i am not sure if i should post/crosspost elsewhere.)
Following a cambelt snap i have replaced the complete engine with a second hand example. All seems well, except the engine wont start.
There is compression. No ODB errors. (Cleared some old insignificant ones). Fuel reaches the filter and on to the high pressure pump.
Using Fiat ECU Scan, i have looked at the different parameters to try to find out. Like seeing the RPM while cranking tells me that the crank sensor is working.
From what i can see the fuel pressure is to low.
The reading shows:
Fuel pressure: 16,4 bar (max 20-30 while cranking)
Fuel pressure signal: 0,543 V
Desired fuel pressure: 406,5 bar
Fuel pressure regulator: 40,00%
Any suggestions on whar to do except replacing the fuel pump with the one from the other engine?
Replacing the pump involves taking out a lot of hoses, rails as well as the drive belt/cam belt again.
When i first cranked the engine, i think i heard a sound like a fuse "popping".
Is there anything like a "pressure fuse" or any method by which i can verify the operation of the fuel pump without removing it?
(Attached screendump from FES)
Best regards,
Stein
