Hi,

Has anyone experience with replacing the stereo on the Mk2 multipla?

I have a new JVC stereo which I've installed ok but theres a couple of things that don't work like the builtin bluetooth and the steering wheel controls.

The full size iso plug from the car connects to the jvc fine but there is nowhere to plugin the mini iso connectors from the car into the jvc. I'm thinking that I have to maybe connect the wires from the mini iso to the pins on the full size iso connector - or do I need some other harness/cable thing.

The JVC stereo has a wire labelled steering controls but I'm not sure what to plug that into or whether I need something else.

Thanks in advance

:)

You need a specific adapter cable to enable the steering wheel controls, try googling Nexxia - they might be able to help.
However, they can be car/head unit specific - good luck

Thanks - I have mailed nexxia to ask what I need - lets see what they say.

Nothing back from nexxia and I can't find anything clear in other audio shops on the web. Either this is really simple or nobody made the bits for it yet?!

OK so I got leads recommended from Dynamic sounds - pc 99-x29 fiat with a jvc patch lead. This makes the steering controls work - hurray.

There is a mass of cables that have to be squashed behind the radio now. removed the ashtray to get better access.

One thing that doesn't seem to work is the builtin bluetooth from the car. I would really like to get this working if possible without having to buy the JVC bluetooth adaptor.

In the new setup I notice that there are six wires going into the green mini iso connector from the car but only three of them come out the other side of the adapter. Also noticed that the stereo now is permanently on and does not turn off automatically with the ignition. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Sounds like they've got the harness slightly wrong, there should be 2 power feeds, one permanently live to keep the user defined settings (Radio pre-sets, etc) and a switched live through the ignition switch.
You could use a multi-meter to find both power feeds and either "adjust" the harness or take it up with the supplier.
