The electric adjustment on my 04 jtd is not working, I can hear it trying but no movement...........any ideas?

Hmmm... Common problem I'd think. Worse still, electric driver's seat adjustment is set to be an MOT test item very soon.

They're not particularly heavy duty. I put it down to six foot tall fat blokes getting in to their petite wife's Multipla and adjusting the seat whilst sitting on it!

The motor continues to work, but the (nylon?) cogs that transfer the drive to the elevation thread strips wears out. It doesn't look mendable to me.

Mine broke. I have a new one in the boot awaiting fitting.

I have just recently purchased a Multipla that has this fault with the drivers seat. I am struggling to find a replacement part, any ideas?

any info greatfully recieved.

cheers

All seat mechinisams are the same in every car proberly every fiat lol

i tried DA Motors and they dont have part, anybody have any other ideas on where to source the part?

Despite changing the mechanism, just a thought, does the seat move up when you are not sitting in it? as have seen this as a cure if the mechanism is a bit dicky.

Mechanism's i recall are also fitted to the Alfa 156 and there is alot of them in the breakers with there unfortunate cam belt failures courtesy of a not so clever engine designer.

i live in surrey.

i have 'tinkered' with it to try and get the gears to engage but to no avail

Well I'm finally getting the new gears made in bronze by a company near me - none of the English companies (5) that I contacted even bothered to reply despite multiple chase ups!!
I have ordered two spare bronze gears just in case.
If anyone is interested, the new gears are 68 quid each plus postage from France.
Say now (email) before they change the settings on the machines please.

On mine its the flexible coupling between the motor and the screw gear that has twisted and snapped. I looked on ebay and it seems I might be able to make a square coupling the same out of brass?

I had a think, as one does, I decided that a steel peg would be to strong and if the mechanism was used with a heavy person the gears might break, so I used a 3mm square brass tube got from a model shop.

It works fine!
