Hi there,

I have the 1.9td Multipla and we love it. Great car. We took it down to Spain form the UK last year. We drove down to meet the in laws who had flown down with our two kids. Father in law flew back as he had work and the remaining five of us took a great drive back. All was going well, my two boys were in the back watching seperate DVD's, I had the sat nav giving me directions the air con was on as it was a lovely sunny day and everyone was happy.........

After 50 odd miles after leaving we lost the air con (which we later found out was just the blower ) and the 12v supply from the socket in the rear and the one to the left of gearstick, under the cup holder.

After investigation and a lot of google work it looks like, what has happened is a previous COMMON fault (where the connections to the blowers melt) has been bypassed by taking a feed from the back of the 12v supply form the socket under the cup holder. All of those devices working together form one multi splitter plugged into that socket, plus the blower going hard has popped a fuse. For the life of me though I cannot find the fuse. All of the fuses I can see seem to be good. Is it fed from a relay? If so how do I prove a relay. How can I solve this issue? I might add here that I have 5.5v DC at the 12v socket, yet with the fuse out feeding the standard cigarette lighter I have the expected 0v which makes me believe that this may not be a fuse issue. Im confused. :bang: I would rather not pay the auto electrcian the £50 call out plus parts and labour.:worship:

I need to get the issue resolved as I am now selling the car to move to Oz.

Hoping yoiu can help.

Many thanks

Paul

I just realised how confusing it sounded about the fuse out 0v bit. to clarify, The standard cigarette lighter works fine I have 14v there actually and when I take the fuse out for that, I get the expected 0v. When I take the voltage at the secondary 12v socket under the cup holder, I get 5.5v irrelevant of fuse positions. There is clearly a seperate feed for these two sockets but I cant find out where the one under the cup holder is fed from.

Solve that and the problem is solved.

Hi there. On an '08 nosejob the power sockets are fed from fuse 19, I think, at it's a 25 amp fuse, normally a clear (in colour) fuse.

I only know this cos I blew mine t'other day.....

There is a relay and it might be - under the glove box drivers side. Hopefully you'll see a big yellow block. Next to that (on the left) you'll hopefully see two red relays. It should be the one furthest fromyou, nearest the front of the car, if you like. Thats where it was on an early diesel uglybug, anyway.

Hope this helps. Panda.
