Hey folks.
The left hand idicators on my 2000 1910cc diesel multi recently started flashing too fast (intermittantly.) If i went over a bump it would correct itself.... now it only does it when the brakes are pressed???

When the lights are on, the rear indicator and the back lights all flash like christmas tree lights? but only the left (near) side.

Any clues as to how to fix??
I have checked all the bulbs and they ok.

Cheers.
Steve

I'll second that, classic bad earth symptoms.
Electricity will always take the path of least resistance.
When you have a poor earth connection, the current can 'back-up' through other bulbs (or filaments in the same bulb) that use the same (common) earth circuit.
Check the bulb holders, then the earth wire(s) between them and the body.

Cheers guys. I'll take a look today.
As I said I already checked the bulbs, I guess what you mean is take the whole actual light mounting out ?
Cheers

Don't take it out until you've re-connected all the wires and re-seated the bulbs.
If there's an obvious earth wire, give that a gentle pull to make sure it's connected.
If that doesn't work then take the cluster unit out.
If the earth is poor, you should be able to run a new one from any screw/bolt hole to the cluster earth.
Multimeter is useful, especially for checking resistance in this instance.

Thanks you guys.
Well I took the whole light housing out in the end.
Examined all the connectors and found ONE tiny connector which looked a little powdery so i cleaned it up with an emery board and gave it a good going over with WD40.
the female part of the connector was very loose / slack so I squeezed it tighter.
Put back together and they worked fine.

Will post photos when I get a min for anyone else who is not sure about this procedure (as I wasnt!) there is a really tricky nut to find !

Anyhoo,
All seemed well and good but then the battery died next day!!!??? ,......... coincdence ?????

now it keeps going flat????/
Charge it over night , and it will do 4 or 5 starts (if lucky) and dead again??
Had it checked out........
they say battery fine 12.44v or so engine off
Just about 12v engine on !!????/
It had a brand new alternator only 12 months ago...........

Any ideas???:bang::bang:
