hi folks,
The 'oil pressure low' alarm on my 2008 diesel multijet multipla keeps flashing/ringing on startup (then eventually ringing off after minute). The oil level is fine and the engine seems to run fine, no overheating or anything. a mechanic i had look at it reckoned it could just be the sensor. where is the sensor located exactly, does anyone have a schematic they could put up? Really appreciate your input guys!

Hello and welcome to the forum

what engine is it exactly?

I believe from looking on EPER its on the Oil filter housing....

ideally when you get it taken off you want it Pressure testing Just to be on the safe side and rule out the oil pump/ blocked strainer with a kit like this

(no idea what the correct pressure should be but surely someone will know either on here or a garage should be able to look it up on the likes of Auto data)

the sensor is only a 2 minute job to swap and one wire to connect

thanks for the info andy, its a 2008 diesel 1.9 multijet engine. I will get the pressure checked properly, thankyou for the reply!

no problem depending on which one the sensors price range from £5 to £15 ish When you order one if you DIY fit it You will ideally want your engine ID which is stamped on the aluminium VIN plate which i think is under the bonnet on the multipla

you want the Motore-Engine code to be sure they order the correct one for the engine (y)

I have the same problem with my just bought Multipla. I'm going to fit a Fiat oil filter Monday as a first up try at a solution, the filter fitted is a non branded one and apparently OEM ones are valved or something. If that doesn't fix it I'll try a new sensor.

In the meantime to stop the alarm beeping I've disconnected the sensor. It took a lot of searching to find it but my trial and error I found it in the end. Its not near the oil filter as you might expect, its located high up on the block at the bulkhead side of the engine in line with the starter motor. To unclip it you lift the tab close to the engine (it's not a squeeze tab like most connectors)

Here's a picture so you know what it looks like. (I can't post a link as I'm a newbie but just put a . where the spaces are below)
