hi everybody
i bought a 2001 multipla 110 elx jtd in may
so far im loving the car, beautifull engine and drives really well
some things thought are buggering me
1st) glow plug light stay lit flashing after starting car and then goes off...
engine runs spot on and mpg are good so what is it?
2nd) there is a noise coming from engine only from lock to lock...is like a vibrating rattling noise and to me is coming from auxiliary belt, maybe tensioner gone???
3th) car is eating inner edge of all 4 tyres???
4th) were can i find some cheap seats in red for my car? im in need of 3 back ones as the folding mechanism is broken...and i also need other plastic interior bits
5th) eletric mirrors only driver side folds in and the other one has a mind of his own!!
6th) spare wheel does not come down for some reason??
bear in mind that i soon i bought car i had cambelt, tensioner and water pump replaced
i also have fitted a tuning box for an extra 30 bhp and more mpg and works great!!!
im also thinking to fit 17" alloy wheels on car as my brother gave me some, anything that i need to know before i do that?
any help would be really apreciated many thanks!!:)

I can try to answer couple of you questions for you:

2. when you say lock to lock I gather you mean when turning the steering wheel if so, it will more than like be caused by the auxiliary belt tensioner or by the crank shaft pulley, both being common faults.

3. first thing is to get the tracking checked.

6. another common problem I'm afraid. the spare wheel hoist strips it's gears and gets stuck. if you do a search on this forum you should find lots of posts about this and also some modifications that can be done.
 
As for glow plug light this is normal as they are gettin to tempiture as for rattle if it's not the trackin an old thread states check for a poor fitted air box or loose if tires are eattin edges the toeing angle needs setting to zero when u have tracking done as for the rest I'm not sure hope this helps I deffo no from experience number five put the one mirror in turn ignition off and force the other mirror in get in car ignition on hit button job done

On the ' 17" boolah's ' assuming you have the correct alloys you will probably need to fit spacers, I did on both my BUG's.

Dint think of that one the spacer size should be 5 mm if standard as sold on eBay as a refirb if any r needed can supply item numbers cheapest I found

i think i sorted most of problems...(y)
the only thingh im stuck with really is that ratling noise
is 100% coming from the auxiliary belt area:mad:
im gonna change the belt as looks worn + the tensioner
but there is another big pulley which i think is the air con pulley which looks worn as all plastic is breaking in the middle...:eek:
it can be seen from the driver side front wing with wheels turned to the right
is the big pulley on the right side held by 4 nuts in the middle
does anyone know if that alone can be changed or i have to buy a new air con pump??:confused:
regarding wheels im putting 17" instead of 15" and pcd matches ok but according to garage i need some special nuts as the standard ones wont fit as holes are too small on 17" wheels...

just looked at engine bay and ac pump pulley is fine(y)
is defo the crank pulley faulty as suggested(y)
all the rubber is split on middle
so whats the next step now?
do i have to change belt, idle, tensioner and crank pulley at same time for piece of mind??:p
also were i can find this parts cheap as local motor store wants £120 for crank alone!!!:bang:

Well, Shop4Parts is one place to start. Looks like you can get the auxilllary belt, tensioner and the crank pulley from there for under £135 inc. VAT and delivery. Try ebay, Eurocarparts, BuyPartsBy and even your local Fiat dealer (the last one will make all the others look like a bargain!) to see if you can beat the price. It might be worth phoning around a couple more local factors as well - sometimes you can stumble on a bargain.

Changing all the parts at the same time makes sense. Aux. belt and tensioner takes about an hour. Not sure about the crank pulley.
