Hi all.small problem i need your help with.Just been out im my mothers Multipla and the passenger window is stuck half way open. The drivers side works fine so i dont think it can be the fuse (as i understand they are on the same fuse, I might b wrong) there seems to be a click as u try the passenger window with the passenger swich and the switch on the drivers door for the passenger window. Does this sound like the motor for the window?would be very grateful for your advise?

Our windows stick fairly regularly and there does not seem to be any obvious reason why. When they do stick it is easy to get them up by just gently pulling on the window glass as you operate the switch if you haven't tried that yet.

Cheers
Mark

my window stuck open once so I just put polythene over the open bit and that fixed it for a while and then when the polythene gets old and grubby it's easy to change it for a new bit.

Ive tried pulling the window up only moves a very small distance and i know my mother (whos car it is) wont be happy with the polythene option.lol.

Thanks guys.

If the window isn't moving even when you help it, the motor probably isn't working.

The only way you can check this is to remove the trim and check that there is power getting through to the switch and that when the switch is operated power is getting through to the motor.

I can't remember but if the motor has failed there may be a means of turning it (screwdriver slot) to wind the window up manually. Either way it's got to be done!

i have the same problem give the switch a good bang and and it should work again it does for me..

The only screwdriver slot i can feel is on the back of the motor (between the back of the motor and the outer door skin.would that be it?there not a lot of room there but might b able to get a small screwdriver in it. There power going to the switch as it lights up when plugged in but the motor i don't know. i had the suggestion made to me of taking the rear passenger motor off and putting it on the front to lift the window. How complicated is that going to be? As i see it the system is a motor with a loop of metal wire, motor spins one way it lifts window up,the motor spins the other-way pulls window down.Is that the to big and fiddly (and possibly different shape motors??) way to do it?

You could try putting a mutlimeter across the terminals of the window motor to see if it's getting power when you press the window switch. If you haven't got a multimeter to hand, rig something up with a couple of bits of wire and an old indicator or sidelight bulb.

If the bulb doesn't light up, temporarily use one of the other window switches (from a window that you know does work) and see if that gets a result. If that cures it, you can at least get the window closed before putting everything back together while you're waiting for a new window switch to arrive.

If the bulb does light up, that will tell you that everything up to the motor is working. It's also worth listening closely to the motor when you press the switch. If you can hear a buzzing or a slight 'clunk' then chances are that the motor is trying to do something and the fault is a jamming in the window mech.

Hi,all sorted.there was a loose connection in the bundle of wires that come from the car into the door.I was poking around inside the door and thought it worth a go so pushed all the wires and the window started to come down on my arm.ah well all sorted even if i am typing this one handed.

Thank you all very much!
