if it's just on cold days, it's nothing to worry about - if it's on stinking hot days like this then maybe there's a problem - i dunno it's probably just heating up - diesels do that... my dad's VW Passat does that sometimes when it's a bit chilly...

to check your glow plugs, remove the linking cable/bar, and use a stout bit of cable from the battery +ve and touch the end, if you get a healthy spark, its ok, if not its a dud, worked on my astra deisel
