Hello, I own a 51 plate Multipla 1.9 JTD. It's a great car and would love to solve some of the issues. I will list them separately. Further to my previous post relating to the heating system I have a rattle i can not identify.

When the car is idling there is a rattle that comes and goes every few 2-3 seconds, It is not constant but it is always there after a few seconds. If I put my foot on the accelerator very slightly and increase the rpm's by say 100 the rattle disappears, If I take my foot off then it's back. When driving i can't hear or feel anything.

Reversing is also an Issue as the speeds are always low so the rattle is again there every 2-3 seconds. Any ideas? had a look in the engine bay and it seems to be coming from the left hand side as i look down, I can see a belt, not sure if it's the timing belt or fan belt.

Not sure if the issue is related but the car also screeches when in damp conditions, I need to drive it hard to reduce the noise level. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Possibly the drive belt tensioner needs replaced.

Remove the belt and see if the noise disappears, if it does, check the condition of the tensioner wheel and bearing, also check the condition of everything the belt drives.

It's a process of elimination.
