Hi all,
Multipla 120 eleganza with 45 k miles. Driving perfectly but engine management light appeared over Christmas. Today my local Fiat Dealer told me that diagnostics indicated EGR faulty. They cancelled fault, but it appeared again following a single trip. They want to replace it. I wonder how acurate their diagnosis is. From what I read, EGRs usually stick open. Mine is either closed or the fault is in the solenoid or other related area as I have no loss of power at all. Everything seems fine. Any other failures that would cause it to read an EGR problem or will I just try to clean the valve? Thanks for any thoughts.

By the way thanks for replies on fuel consumption query - I still have not removed roof bars but frosty conditions here doing great things for fuel consumption!

My dads 07 60k multijet has started doing this too. Keep cancelling it but after two days reappears. No driving faults, no usual Egr problems. Think were going to try cleaning it. Let us know how you get on.

Yep, Warning Light and no performance issues does mean stuck shut. Stuck open is much worse - resulting in abyssmal performance. Mine is sticking shut intermittently (tends to happen when I hoof it down the motorway at 70 plus) but it usually unsticks after a while. I've cleaned my EGR out once and got in instant improvement but will probably need to replace or clean it again soon - apparently they're regarded almost as a consumable service item!!!

Thanks for all the help. In the last post T14086 mentioned a software upgrade with a clickable link to a fashion shop??? What is the story here? If there is a software update, does that mean it may not be a faulty EGR at all?

I really need to find out what's going on with my car. Had this same fault. Changed the turbo vale first then CHanged te mass air flow then cleaned the egr then finally got a new egr and had it fitted. And the blimmin car still as soon as you get to 70 beeeeeeeeeeep always the same fault. Really fed up!!!! Just done a 100 mile round trip and had it beep on us about 6 times :/

Going into limp mode at 70mph could be the boost sensor, get the diagnostic error read as this will help a lot.
Check all the inlet side for splits/leaks.
