I'd like to keep the plip key central locking, but the alarm is too much emotional hassle:eek: - what is the best way to temporarily remove all its functions - a fuse somewhere?
Its an 05 facelift.

Mine isnt alarmed , but i think there should be a key you can turn it off with.
Did you get a little key with the car?.

sadly no, and there's no mention of that in the handbook.

I've also checked out the fuses - there are two listed, both which do lots of other jobs too so thats a pain as I wont be able to remove either of them

Presumably, if I can find a wire, I could cut the power lead, or introduce a switch, when its in a deactivated state?

never had any dealings with the alarms on the multi's but usually fiat/alfa main boxes are under the nearside wheel arch behind the plastic inner arch but also have a key to shut it down via the glovebox.

ok, after further scrutiny of all past posts:
1. UK models have the alarm key on the fusebox removed (I presume as a result of insurer pressure, perhaps)
2. nobody has solved, seemly.

Whilst annoying to lose the plip function on the remote, I've turned off the alarm via the key and then removed the battery, and will keep it in the car. This seems the safest solution for the future, and gets rids of the slight battery drain in case we go away for a period. All the time the plip is active, its all too easy for the alarm to get activated - and for me, every future activation is a chance for the thing to go wrong...

PLEASE post if you get a better solution...(y)

I cannot believe that in 10 years no-one has managed to come up with a simple permanent fix - i.e. not just coming across and enacting the flaccid options in the manual!

As allways with factory alarms its allways cheaper to hav a new and better one fitted, half the time they can be very hard to diagnose and parts very expensive.
I once had an alfa 155 and the alarm worked for 2 years then stopped for a year (n) although i was 2 days from trading it in and the alarm started working again for no reason.
Forget it and fit a new un i spent hours and hours trying to fault my alfa one and many parts have to be coded to the car so no buying s/hand.

What is th problem with yours ?
You can adjust the settings.

dear pondweed

i have the solution. but it just good for me :)

anyway. my alarm gone south. initially i thought i can "repair" or replace with aftermarket. i have removed the alarm. and the central locking still works, the led indicator still works, however the signal light will not blink because what cause the signal light blinking is the alarm.

so you can take out the alarm unit. the only one draw back is that the respond time when you activate the alarm via remote control takes about 3 to 5 sec for the central control lock to activate from the usual 1 sec to lock the door.

i have taken off the alarm from my multipla jtd 2004 for about a year now without any problem.

after you take off the alarm .....sell to me reasonably...ok :)

oh one more thing. if you remove the alarm. make sure you open -up the alarm box and disconnect the backup battery. otherwise you have the headache ear piercing sound all day untill you disconnect the battery.

its not really good solution but it works for me unfortunately.
