Hello all, sorry if i am asking old questions! I have just discovered my Multipla has worn bushes on the O/S/F lower wishbone due to scrubbing out a tyre, so i have ordered a replacement arm and a N/S/F as advised to do both and as i will be keeping the car for long time, i have also ordered A/R/BAR bushes as while doing the arms might just as well do them.
Finally the questions:-
1:- Where can i find the torque settings for the arm nuts & bolts?

2:- When i remove the old A/R/B bushes can anyone suggest what size nuts & bolts i should use and where to get them?

3:- I had new front springs replaced under an old warranty recall in Feb so 1 link bar was replaced and the other was checked and was ok, so do i need to check or replace anything else while i am doing the work?

You are correct in your assumption that the questions have been asked before ( and I'm sure, answered several times!) Briefly I'll give you my take.

Are you certain it's the wishbones at fault causing the tyre wear? The factory recommended setting of 2 degrees Toe OUT causes undue wear on the inside of both front tyres and the cure is to set the TOE to ZERO. Mind you if your vehicle has done a reasonable amount of miles it will improve stability by replacing the wishbones, so no harm done.

1] By 'arm nuts & bolts' I guess you are talking about the ARB bracket captive screws, the nuts are captive. I tighten using common sense not a torque wrench! Same applies to the wishbone screws.

2] Re-use the screws on both wishbone & ARB brackets. Make sure you give all screws a clean with a wire brush on the exposed thread end & a liberal squirt of lubricate before attempting to remove, if any tighten up when removing screw them back in again with lubrication & repeat until they are removed. It takes a little longer but means no snapped screws to drill out!

3] The other drop-link can be left alone if it was not causing noise.

As you are considering replacing the ARB rubbers you would do well to check out all the threads relating to same on the forum. An easy fix is to split the brackets in situ and either bind the bar or use a plastic shim to take up slack.

Before replacing with polyurethane bushes I used the later fix for well over a year with no problems.

Best of luck

Hi Peat,

That is excately the answers i was was looking for.:) thank you for the help.

With regard to the tyre wear being down to the wishbone, while getting the tyre replaced i had a good shake and saw the movment in the bushes, also i have had the dreaded knocking or more of a clunking from the front end.

Regards
