Hi all,

I have a 1.6 petrol 2001 Multipla with the digital temperature display.

How meny bars are your digital temp. displaying ?

Mine is most often with four bars, but noticed the display showing five bars. Was idle after a normal drive today, outside temp. at 17°C.

hello

dont know about the petrol but my 2001 diesel has never been above 3 bars, sits at 3 bars even on a really warm day sitting stationary for aprox 15 mins

hope this helps

Hello!

When i first got my 1.6 multipla my temp gauge was on 5 bars all the time so naturally was a bit worried! i cracked on and flushed the cooling system then replaced it with coolant/water mix. ever since then i have never seen it above 3 no matter what the car is doing

might be worth changing coolant to see if that helps easy and cheap job and it's worthwhile in the long run

I just got the car and the first thing I did was to change the thermostat. Due to one bar showing after driving 20 min on highway! I also flushed the coolant.

I had a little bit of air in the system, opened up the bleed valve on top of the radiator and now it doesn't go above or below 4 bars when it's hot.

I don't think it's too hot when touching the thermostat or the hoses. The fan didn't also start when sitting on 4 bars.

The thermostat I fitted was an aftermarket from Ruville made in Germany.

hi

i would still advise changing the coolant first before anything else as 9 times out of ten it cures the problem and its the cheapest option....

I did also flush the coolant and put new one in, when I did the thermostat.

Thanks for that !!
I was getting a little worried, do you sometimes see the fifth bar ?
I'm getting the fifth bar for few seconds any now and then, when idle.

sounds just like mine have only seen 5 bar on a long journey then sitting in long traffic jam then fan kicks in and back down to 4(y)
