hello

passenger side rear arm needs replacing anyway what i wanna know is would this cause a loud creaking/groaning sound under normal driving or will this be somethinf else?

thanks

I dunno but I just got back from Fiat for our service and they say our r/n/s trailing arm bushes need replacing right away but it is not making any noise:confused:The wheel does lean it at the top though.Luckily it has one week left on the warrenty so there is no cost to me :slayer:and they are doing the two front wishbones under warrenty:slayer:

Yes chances are you would get strange noises if it's badly worn. The bearing surfaces fail and you get metal to metal contact which produces the noise.

got mine changed about a month ago it was the rear nearside one so badly worn that the tyre was nearly against the car body, but there was not a sound from it whilst driving.

My n/s arm is NOT leaning but is leaking grease and making a similar noise as when the front drop-links or ARB bushes are worn except for the fact that it sounds like the noise is eminating from the passenger side 'B' post.

Am still waiting (after a week) for the complete radius arm from Autoparts Warehouse in Birmingham, they have promised it for tomorrow. If it doesn't arrive again I will get the bearing kit from Shop4parts!

And to top that my Air Con. condenser has been holed, so a new one there.

I would warn anyone who is not certain of the servicablity of their A/C NOT to go to Kwikfit as they do not seem to know what they are doing. At least in three goes to re-gas my vehicle they missed the two holes in the condenser and swore that their machine detected leaks in the system! In fairness I did get a refund.

I will be putting fine aluminium mesh behind the grill now as the condenser is rather exposed as well as expensive.

Bl**dy battery gave it's last gasp to round things off. Been an expensive month so far. Looking on the bright side it can't get much worse - I hope!

Peat :)

hello

did autoparts ask u about the abs diameter? they did with me i aint ordered mine yet but they did tell me it would be a guaranted next day delivery tho

Just had my n/s/r arm replaced under warranty. They told me they were changing the bushes but when I looked they replaced the whole arm:DMaybe Fiat don't supply just the bushes:confused:I don't know what you think but 24k on a 06 does not seem many miles to be replacing a rear arm and both front wishbones but credit where it is due Desira in Norwich done the work the day after they found the problems.Hate to think what the cost would have been to me next week when the warranty is out:confused:Not much change from £700 I would have thought with labour at £85 an hour and the cost of Fiat parts.

My local garage passed it for a MOT with these faults and the rear wheel was very bad indeed(n)

my mot not due till middle of august but i had car jacked u the other day and there was quite a lot of play so gonna get it done within the next fortnight.

gonna attempt the job myself hopefully i shall manage it only thing im not sure about is removing brake pipes etc.

just one thing is the bottom of the spring bolted onto the arm or does it just sit there???

It is not bolted but there is something holding them together.Feels like it might be a star key needed to unscrew it.Hard to see because it is put in from the top of the arm in the middle of the spring. You will see it no problem with the wheel off though(y)

cheers will have a look, will i def need to take brake pipes off local mobile mechanic says he wouldnt need to if he done the job local garage says they will def have to come off, wanna make sure i know what im letting myself into

Just had another look and I think the spring is not attached to the arm.It does look like it rests on it so that is some good news:slayer:One of the two brake pipes going to that wheel is attached to the arm so it would have to be removed to replace the arm(n)

Brake cables you mean? surely just a clip which break anyway so good old cable tie would suffice.

so u mean i wouldnt actually have to dismantle the brake pipes themselves as in undo unions and clamp pipes etc

sounds like this job might be a bit easier than i was hoping for

Ive not done this job myself yet and im just speculating, sure your gonna have to take the brakes off but are yours disks or drums on the rear?

ive got drums on the rear i knew id have to take of the rear drums etc and the hub as well but i thought id have to disconnect brake pipes as well meaning id have to then bleed the brakes which i cant do.

if its only a case of unbolt everything then bolt it together i should manage just a case of how long it takes i guess.

also heard that the big bolt can be a nightmare to get undone/off

Just got under it and had a real good look. You won't need to touch the brake pipe. What I thought was the brake pipe is a thick wire which must be the ABS sensor? The brake pipe goes just above the trailing arm into the drum

cheers for that so it really is a case of just unbolt the old one and bolt on the new one, maybe not that easy tho.

when i order the arm am i better off buying the new bolt or maybe trying just now see if the old one will losen off first?

I can see they fitted a new bolt on mine so for a little extra I would.I think it took Fiat about an hour and a half to fit but they have the gear and do it every day.It would take me a day and a half:eek:
