It's not on mine either, but it is almost certainly showing the settings for maximum defrost:
Air distribution directed towards screen
Maximum temperature
Maximum blower speed
Fresh air intake (so moist air is not recirculated)
AC on (cools the air before it's heated, so it is drier when it comes out of the vent)
Do you have a Max Def position on your Air Distribution knob ?
Then again, the Max Def setting is useless. Fiat (or Magneti Marelli) decided that the defrost function is not very efficient at low ambient temperature, so the Max Def function gets disabled. Unfortunately this is the very time we need it in the UK. I've lost count of the number of mornings when it is, perhaps, 5 degrees outside, the windscreen is steaming up and Max Def is disabled, so I have to select the above settings individually.
I did raise this with the HVAC design engineers in Turin, about a year and a half ago. They were surprised, but they said that some changes had been made in the more recent HVAC software.
The other really annoying feature on the semi-automatic climate control is the "winter warm up". This means that below a certain temperature, the climate control enters this mode for about half an hour and, even though the car is warm enough, a temperature selection of anything but 'cold' results in maximum (?) heating. On longer journeys, it is noticeable when the half hour is up, and the climate control starts to work properly.
To me, these are the most annoying features of the car - maybe I worked in climate control for too long.
