Technical Diy guide clutch replacement

Hi Worshipper!
You might like to see my detailed write up of doing the clutch: it is called FiatMultiplaClutchReplacement_NotesForNovices. The link to the full word document (27Mb) is available at yousendit.com (for 7 days) and the smaller pdf is on the MultiplaOwners repair website, see below. The document has 24 pages and over 120 pics

Hi Charris
I'll have that drink!
The dual mass flywheel is no big deal. It is the cost that hurts!!!
I wish they hadn't used one but I have yet to see a solid replacement for the JTD1.9.
Good luck when you come to fix it.
I would suggest you first bleed the clutch. There ae two bleed-points, one on the slave cylinder the other on the bulkhead below the reservoir. Details are in my article

Hi, I have just stripped my clutch down and I am ready for re-fitting. On re-aligning the clutch plate I noticed that the flywheel does not have anything in the centre and that the gearbox spined shaft is much smaller that the flywheel centre hole. Should there be a bearing in the flywheel ??. Surely there must be some support for the end of the spined shaft.

good guide, only hard bit was the back bolt on the starter.
would have been easy if the thread was in the starter and heads on the gear box end .
thanks for a good heads up :D

I changed my clutch on my multipla with help from this guide, and then a week later had to replace the gearbox as 1st gear decided to die all of a sudden. I found that after undoing the "easy" bolt on the starter motor from under the car and struggling with the other 2 thst its actually quicker and a little easier undoing those awkward 2 bolts from under the bonnet...just make sure you have a ratchet spanner...makes it much easier.
