Okay, I'm new here so if this has been covered before I apologise. I have a 1.6 Multipla with crunchy CV joints so I've bought 2 used driveshafts and plan to fit them myself (rather ambitious for someone who has never even changed a spark plug!). Anyway, despite there being no Haynes manual for this car I think I've amassed sufficient info (and tools) to attempt the job. I have just one query though. The driveshafts I received have one CV joint on the wheel (outer) side of the shaft but what seems like just half a CV joint on the inner(gearbox) side. The end of the shaft on this side has the boot and what looks like a tripod arrangement of 3 circular rings containning many small bearings. I had expected a complete CV joint with a splined shaft at the end that slid into the gearbox? Anyone have any idea how this half CV joint fits into the gearbox before I strip down my car and realise it doesn't fit? Oh and one last thing - Will I need to drain the gearbox? If so where do I refill it from?
Sorry for being a bit thick mechanically but I am good with computers :)
