Hi, all i am having a few problems with my new multipla and was wondering if anyone ould help.
Firstly the engine cooling fan is constantly on from about 10 seconds after i put the key in, and secondly the heater in the car takes absolutely ages to get even mildly warm (are these problems linked?), oh and the windscreen takes ages to demist even with the aircon on. :bang:
I have also been to my local garage to diagnose why the injector warning light was on, but when he plugged in the diagnostic computer it wouldn't link with the car, checked all relays and fuses, no problems found. (Btw brand new 3k machine with latest software, so i doubt if its the computer). Thanks
Hope someone an help.

I have the same problem I'm changing the heater sensor tomorrow will post the results.

By the way when i said fan I meant the rad cooling fan not the heater blower fan!!:D

Id make sure it has not been bodged to stay on (the fan) a simple short cicuit will make it stay on , this could have been done if the water temp sensor has gone to save the engine overheating and yes it could well be related.
Id check the wiring to the rad fan for a short, temp sensor with a multi meter in various jugs of warm water to make sure its doing its thing.
Then i suppose the water pump as some have a plastic impellor (spelt right?) which can detach giving no water circulation ie tooo hot and no heat inside car.
Hope its something daft like the sensor as the pump on mine is behind the cambelt(diesel).

Although my heater is poooooo as well im gonna try a new thermostat.

The JTD engine does take an age to warm up, and so they all suffer very slow delivery of heat to the heater, and consequently take ages to demist. So that's not a 'fault', just a 'characteristic'!

However, the radiator fan cutting in that early is not right. Theoretically it wont come on until the engine is hot, the thermostat in the water circuit has opened, hot water has reached the radiator and all become warm enough to merit the fan cutting in. From a cold start this should be several minutes. Once warm, sitting stationary with the engine warm, it should still take a fair while.

If you start the engine from cold and open the bonnet, you can (being very careful to keep your hands and any loose clothes, ties, hoody strings etc well out of the way) feel the pipes to the radiator. If they stay cold but the fan kicks in, then there's a fault in the sensor/switch.

Just an update
I replaced the temp sensor switch (not heater ! my mistake) £17 from main dealer as other suppliers kept ordering the wrong one, and everything is great again.(y)
I must say the heater in mine is excellent just hope it stays so.

Yes, once the engine has warmed up the heater's good. But my experience is that it takes three or four miles of driving before any heat appears (and before the temperature 'gauge' starts to move). By comparison, my petrol Panda is giving warm air moments after driving off. I was led to believe that all the diesel Multiplas take ages to get warm. Do others agree?

I think the size of the cabin space is always going to be a disadvantage and mine also takes its time to warm up.

I changed the pollen filter to be on the safe side but found if I am the only I travelling shut off all vents to passengers to maximise the heat with good results.

I almost had a hissy fit with the new Multi yesterday. Put my hand up to the face level vent and found cool air coming out despite the heater being on max.

Silly arse that I am, I had the vent control set on face/feet illustration setting, which of course is cool air to the face and warm air to the feet!

Worth checking, remembering this if you think your heater ain't working.

Incidentally, the new one gets a useable suppy of warm air out of the vents in about 3/4 of a mile! The old ugly bug 110 elx took a good 2 or 3 miles to produce warm air. Is it just the newness of the product, or have they changed the heating system in some way? Either way, I love it!

Hey - tell me secret... I've never managed to achieve teh 'warm feet and cool head' effect from the vents. The manual says it should happen, but with mine, if there's heat to the floor the dash vents all blow hot too (with control on 'feet and face' setting). Mines a 2001 with auto air con...

Same here.

 Curious this. It seemed to be intermittent on the ugly bug. Some times I could rely on getting heat everywhere all the time as expected and desired, yet others times it behaved as it should and gave me a chilly face and warm feet. No explanation.

At first glance however, the facelift seems to do as the book says. Hence my paddy yesterday! (y)

My old one was an '02 with air con.

ok problem sorted (half of it anyway!)the heater was running cold because the water pump was leaking and there was hardly any coolant left in the rad!, still need to find problem with fan being on constantly , its not the thermostat so i think i'll try changing the switch.
