Cheers Sean that helps loads. I can buy them local tomorrow, don't have to wait for the post and save money. If there are any problems I can also return them easily also.

While I'm here can I recommend DA Motors, Esssex. They supplied me with a secondhand working rear wiper motor. Excellent, knowledgeable, fast postage. 01268 767424.

Once again cheers

rear brakes not working one side ... new shoes £19 and 1x new drum £30 ... more more ouch.
water in head light (stripped down and dried out and re-sealed)

expensive mot this year
at least i can fix the arb bushes cheap now though.... maybe we'll keep her in the road for another year or 2

:)

thanks to the info on here I've replaced my arb bushes today with the poly ones and yeeehaa no more knocking , turned out its one of the easiest bush set i've ever replaced .

Just as a heads up though .. make sure the centralisation washers are still in place on the Arb, on original bars there should be two nylon 'washers' about 8mm thick bonded to the arb at the inside face of the bushes (common on allot of fiat/alfa cars)... if they've gone (and mine had) you can either get a couple of 20mm washers and cut em in half and tack weld them onto the Arb (like alot of aftermarket arb's) ....as luck would have it my nylon washers were just sitting on the sub frame caked in mud.... cleaned every thing up & bonded them back on with double bubble (epoxy) and stuck a jubbly clip round them for good measure making sure the clip didn't over hang the inner edge of the washers....if they come off again I'll be welding some washers on.

thanks guys.

OK. So I attempted replacing the anti roll bar bushes today with the Superflex type. Used plenty of lube on the area, front bolt of anti roll bar snapped in hole, unfortunately this has not released the clamp. Back one came out fine. Any ideas?

Ok. All now sorted. Been running the car for 4 weeks without the anti-roll bar fitted and can honestly say I hardly notice the difference. I ended up using a cutting disc to remove all the bits I needed to and have had a local engineer sort out the snapped bolt in the housing. Putting all back on the car with the superflex bushes. All a bit of a pain but I have worse problems as I now have the engine management light on woth the dreaded injector failure :((n)

new bushes doesn't garranty that problem will be solved, because after time the rollbar get thinner and the bushes doesn't compress enough.

. . . DO NOT USE THE CAR WITHOUT THE ARB ! TEST DRIVE CAUTIOUSLY ONLY ! . . .

Really?
Why?

I did roughly two years/40,000+ plus miles without the ARB fitted to my '02 115 JTD (after it snapped), with absolutely no problems, went through two MOTs like it.
Even if you chuck it around there's not much roll.

If you regularly fill all the seats and 'drive it like you stole it', it may be another story, but for general/normal driving it's not necessary.

Ah, didn't even look at the dates!
I was just so glad to have sorted out my slow connection problems I got a little post-happy :D

Something else worth mentioning, despite the age of the thread . . .

When I first had problems with my ARB, I made some new (much 'beefier') clamps, and welded on some 'shells' to the bar to stop it wearing.
I also made some larger polyurethane bushes.

It lasted a fairly long time and was solid, no creaks/clunks/knocks at all.
The Bar broke in the end though, it failed where I'd welded on the shells.
It may have been a coincidence, but I'm fairly certain the weld caused the eventual failure, so I'd advise not to weld the bar at all.

I agree that ARB is not so importent part. I drived with my Lancia Kappa without front rollbar a couple years and still alive. On corners maybe a little more leaning
