Hello all,

Well we have finally managed to buy a multipla, after taking over 3 weeks to sell our car.

We drove it home fine, then we stopped at my mums for about 20 mins, went to get back in the car and it wouldn't start, it was turning over but wouldn't start, the fuel injector light was on the dashboard, so we called the RAC, while waiting for them to arrive we checked the car 3 or 4 times and nothing. The RAC man arrives, puts the key in and it starts first time. (how embrassing)

Anyway we have rang the garage we bought it from and they are coming tomorrow to have a look, however what do you think the problems is?

Also the glow plug light flashes for the first 15 seconds of turning the engine on, is this ok? or a problem they also need to look at.

I am starting to think we have bought the wrong car.

Its a 2000 multipla SX versions 110 JTD diesel.

Hi mate,

Almost certainly faulty crank sensor. Very common on the JTD with the exact symptoms you describe.
Have a look in my sig at the bottom and click the link on how to diagnose/replace the crank sensor. Only cost around £20.

Re the glowplug light. The flashing is indicating there is a fault with one or more of the glowplugs or the preheat controll box. Its most likely just to be one of the glow plugs has gone. No real nead to replace it if your based in the UK.

Both are very minor problems that come with age/miliage and are easily fixable, so dont panic!

Hope that helps,
Alan
