Hi all, my tailgate doesn't want to fully release when activated via the button in the cockpit ( 2002 1.6 elx model ) and the rear tailgate handle doesn't seem to do the job either. Was wondering if this is just a case of an adjustment somewhere. Can anyone advise please.

Mine's been the same since I got it. I've adjusted in every direction to no great effect. Sometimes spraying with WD40 helps for a wee while, but it aint permanent.

I had to replace the tail gate release solenoid (fitted inside the tailgate) a while back, once they start to go there is not a lot you can do.

I was lucky as found one on ebay for a tenner, don't think FIAT will let you have one for that https://www.fiatforum.com/images/smilies/frown.gif


If both the tailgate handle (switch) and cockpit switch are not releasing then thats it, may be worth trying to lubricate the release mechanism, you may get another few months before having to replace solenoid.
