Could someone tell me how to top up the gear box oil, i am not sure if it has any oil left! as the leak is quite fast and there is a slight noise in from the box if one runs along without accelerating... which seems to be getting a bit worse after yesterdays long drive.
PS
where I might find an electronic workshop manual (for free), I do not like paying for these at all, it is almost immoral to make a car and not make this info freely available to all...I know the companies that distribute them have a right to make a buck but...i understand torrents etc but i can't find one for the multipla.

There should be a large allen bolt on the side of the gearbox probably in the worst place in the world, my diesel one is on the side but yours is petrol so not sure but there will be 2 anyway one for filling and one for draining.
ill try and upload a photo of your box........

I am trying to top up my transmission oil, however have come up against a problem the largest hex key I have is 10mm which isnt big enough for this, anyone know what size I need before I buy a few differnt sizes which wont be used. Thanks

12 mm
best to buy one of those socket type ones that can fit on a ratchet as there is not a lot of space, and it can be pretty stiff.

i really need help i have a multipla 2002 petrol manual gearbox and i have a promblem as the gears are stiff from 3-4. It happened all of a sudden what could it be....

how do i do it?

i would be grateful if anyone could give me a step by step intructions as i am a woman and blonde which desnt help

There are 3 plugs on the gearbox, two at the front, and one at the left-hand end, under the left drive shaft CV joint.
The left one is the drain, 12mm Hex.
The upper one at the front is the fill plug (14mm).
The lower is the level plug (12mm), you fill it until it comes out of this one.
My fill plug is seized solid. It was a bit corroded too, the hex tool wouldn't go all the way in, and it just twisted out when I tried to undo it.
You can just fill it through the level plug hole anyway, capacity is 2 litres.

Hello
On my petrol i can find only two plugs, one 12mm on the side and one 12mm on the front, where abouts is this third 14mm plug?

Just to clarify...
MultiG-Bplugs.jpg

Fill plug is the (chewed) one at the top.

Level plug is the one next to the reverse light switch/plug.
You can fill through this one as well, just squirt the oil in until it starts to trickle out.
Make sure it's a proper trickle, and not just a bit of oil from the last squirt that's caught the threads and dripped out.

Drain plug is the one on the left-hand end of the box (obscured from view by end-plate/cover if looking directly from the left with wheel removed).

They are all Allen Key taper plugs (no gasket/sealant required).
Fill = 14mm
Level = 12mm
Drain = 12mm

I think this diagram is incorrect. That is not a filler plug?
My gear box oil was low - I was having trouble changing gear and 4th was wining under load. I borrowed a 12mm and 14mm hex socket and bought some oil. I noticed some clean oil drips coming from the joint between the gear box and clutch housing - nothing much but over time, a problem. The 14mm plug is not a plug for filling. it just appears to be an aluminium boss with a hex hole in it. no chance of undoing it as it is cast-in. The level plug (12mm) came out OK and the gearbox took nearly 2 litres to fill to overflowing. I hope the hole marked 'level' is the level hole. Gears change nicely now and the wine in 4th has gone.

Top up gear box oil?

I think you are correct BB.
Looking at it now, it's fairly clear it's not a Plug.

Laying on your back in the rain at dusk to take a picture, you don't always look that closely at things!
Should have picked-up on it when I posted it though . . .
Not sure why they'd cast it with a hex recess in it?

Having one point for filling and level check is fairly common practice.
