Hi

My nearside rear wheel has started to lean in at the top, to the point where it's now rubbing the inner arch on right-handers.

I've looked underneath and the main suspension pivot point seems to have a bit of grease around it, as if it's started to collapse and squeeze it out. I described this to a Fiat dealer over the phone and they reckoned you have to replace the whole arm.

Has anyone here experienced this, and if so what did you do?

Thanks very much

Nick

PS It's a 2000 JTD 105 ELX with 97k

Thanks Hellcat.

Unfortunately it's been confirmed that it needs a new arm, not too bad at £88 + VAT but add in labout and it's the best part of £300.00.

Serves me right for buying a Fiat. It has to be the flimsiest car I have ever had the misfortune to own. Ho hum.

Cheers

Nick

Hmm, I see what you're saying and I agree - if (and it's a big if) I had access to a ramp and the necessary tools to extract & press bearings.

The problem is that my wife can have her car back fixed tomorrow by having the arm replaced, while she is given a courtesy car, or I can order the bearing kit, wait for it to arrive, and then find someone to fit it for me that isn't an untrustworthy cowboy...

Thanks anyway though :)

Nick

PS Waiting to see what goes wrong with this car next...:bang:

Ive got the same problem but not as bad yet.
These arm bearings are similar on alfa 155's and are supposed to be a bugger to get the bolt out so some of the guys fit a new arm and just cut the old bolt insitu to save on time, im not looking forward to doing it myself.
