How many of you lot have got space savers for spares?

Or perhaps more importantly how many have "proper" spares?

I see looking at Parkers website that some cars had full size spares as standard. I'm thinking about getting hold of a full size rim for mine to replace the space saver. I can't see any reason why it wouldn't fit, has anyone else done this?

A couple of months ago I was driving to Romania and didn't fancy going all that way with just a skinny spare.

It took me quite a while to locate a 2nd hand steel wheel, but eventually got one. It fits perfectly in the carrier space that the skinny wheel lived in.

There's plenty of room for a full size wheel there, but the alloy wheels don't fit the hoist properly (see my earlier reply to a previous post -- I'll add the link in a tick).

Strictly speaking, its not a space saving spare - it's a weight saving one.

Mine is the SX so i a steel wheel it is; and i think I know where I might just be able to get one too!

The difference in weight between a full size wheel and the 'weight saver' spare isn't enough to make much difference - unless someone's got a carbon fibre Multipla...

And when there's a location in the vehicle able to accept a full size spare, it's not a 'space saver'.

It's a 'money saver' wheel for the manufacturer!
