2000 Multipla jtd with "Error 255" - What does it all mean?

Good morning peoples

I'm a new keeper of the 2000 Multipla jtd which seems to run well, if you ignore the torrential sunroofs, but has "Error 255" flashing up on the dashboard.

Does anyone have experience of this?

I bought the car at auction, as I do all my cars. It has no service history and has done 90,000 miles. I suspect that this vehicle is going to keep being bad to me, but I love the practicality and its quirkiness and have always wanted one. But, yup, it's probably gonna be an abusive relationship...sigh...

Then I ask for a price for the parts and how much for labour etc. before telling them I need to speak to the missus before we proceed.

Works every time
Thanks thekanester thanked for this post

That's a brilliant idea. I used to own a Fiat Marea, which was a reasonable car. And I used to be in regular communication with the local dealer. They were never entirely forthcoming with any info over the phone, always requesting "why don't you bring it in for us to have a quick look at". But I'll see what happens this time round, thanks.

Re: 2000 Multipla jtd with "Error 255" - What does it all mean?

Can't say I've had that one I'm afraid, sorry.. only "Engine Management Fault - Contact Dealer". Anybody know where a TDC Sensor is fitted on a 2000 JTD Multipla?. First step in conking out at idle problem, as it only costs 24 to buy from Dealer, but haven't a clue where it's fitted. Hope it's easy, but judging by everything else on this car, probably not!. Many thanks if you can help. mines also 90,000 miles incidentally. Hope your cluch has been changed, mine went at 75K and cost 580, not even a fiat dealer!

Re: 2000 Multipla jtd with "Error 255" - What does it all mean?

Well ive just had a quick look on the autodata cd for the "225" code and i think most of these codes should start with PO then the number so this in mind the disk tells me ......

PO225 Throttle position (TP) sensor/accelerator pedal position (APP) sensor C-circuit malfunction.

Hope this helps .

Also goes on to mention same code for the (TP) switch as well.

Re: 2000 Multipla jtd with "Error 255" - What does it all mean?

hi guys
i know this is an oldish post but as i was trawling through the multi pages i spotted this thread.
i had exactly the same error on our " w " jtd105 multi
i looked through the autodata codes etc and found the only code that was matching was intermittent fault on cam rotor a or something like that.

i can assure you its nothing to do with the obd error codes its actually an error code in the dash unit itself, when i was at fiat having it diagnosed i asked the guy he said " yeh i wouldn't worry m8 ive seen a few with this error and the only way to remove it is to replace the clocks"

so its nothing to worry about u have not got any obd errors its just a fault electrically with the dash clocks and is quite common too
peace

Re: 2000 Multipla jtd with "Error 255" - What does it all mean?

We got this error after the battery had been disconnected for a few days. I has been there for a year now and there have been no issues with the car.

It would be nice to know what it is though, if only so that we don't have to press the clock button after starting.
