Hi all,

We have a Multipla JTD 1.9TD bought new in 2001. Just recentely, and driving at all different speeds it looses power and the Engine Control System Failure Light comes on.

I pull over and switch the enginer off for a few sec and restart and all is fine, it happens on average once a week.

I have seen a few posts on the EGR valve could that be the problem ?

I had the same warning coupled with a loss of power on two occasions and both times it was a failed injector.The first time the engine would only run on 3 pots but the second it was intermitent,although a lot more often than once a week.
Dealer only I'm afraid as the ECU wont recognise a new injector without being programmed.Hope your problem is more simple than that otherwise prepare to be relieved of a wad.
