Hi Folks, I hope one of you can help. My 2003 JTD Multipla is not a bad car, However whenever I reverse and even gently apply the breaks there is an awful squeal/ graunch noise from the rear breaks. RHS rear I think? It has had new disks/ calipers and pads...Still there after a few days. I stripped the brakes myself, cleaned and replaced. Problem cured for a few days.....Then it comes back again. Is this a common Fault. Desira Fiat in Norwich said it was a resonence from the Alloy wheels....? Please help if you can.
Thanks

Don't think you should worry too much if it's only a squeal. Mine does this when it chooses, mostly when going backwards. Disappears for weeks then comes back with a vengeance. I ignore it now, frankly!

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your help. It's almost like a reversing warning to others! My car has Disk rear brakes, The Maindealer changed both under warrenty, pads and calipers too....but the noise came back after a few days.... Even reversing using the handbrake causes the same noise....I will live with it I guess.
Thanks again.

If you are happy that there is no contamination it is most like
caused by the hardness of the Brake linings.
If they are not genuine fiat parts.
Manufacturers match the Disk steel with the brake linning fibre.
But it is nothing to worry about except that you may find that
either the pads or discs were a little quickly.
