Started my jtd up this morning but after travelling a few hundred yards the oil light started to flash. The car is a 56 plate and has 15,000 on the clock. Checked the level and thats fine. What could this be. Is it a pressure prob or some sort of a reset only. Car is under warranty but still waiing for the dealer to get back regarding pick up of the car. As usual, they don't rush at Fiat. Can anyone help ?

I would suspect a faulty oil pressure sensor if not I don't want to go there! relax though, your covered by warranty - sleep easy.

Problem sorted. When i had my 12,000 mls service at a non dealer garage using genuine parts, the service counter was reset on the dash but apparently the ECU has to be reset after service otherwise brain is telling the car oil and filter haven't been changed. Dealer saying i need the ECU reset to clear flashing oil light and any other niggles in the system. Is that right ?

Thanks Multipete. Do you know of any non fiat garages that can do this in the North west, preferably within the Manchester area.No one seems to have the software apart from Fiat. Surely they don't have the rights to this, do they ?

Yes...the same as other manufactures have their own systems that can only be reset with their own diagnostic equipment. Fiat dealers who sell other make of cars have to take them to other garages to be reset (engine lights, airbags, service lights, keys, remotes etc) themselves before they can sell them.
