Hi
I am looking into using bio-fuel cooking oil in my early 2004 Multipla 1.9JTD 115. I have read that diesel engines having a Bosch fuel pump would be OK but not those by Lucas CAV. I have taken the cover off the engine to see which type of pump I have but see no names anywhere. Am I right in expecting the pump to be to the rear of the engine? Anyone got any pictures of the actual pumps used on the Fiat Multipla (pre-facelift)?
Cheers

Hi Lord Love Rocket
Let me know how you get on! The only feedback I have received was someone who said that they had heard that no Multipla was suitable because the seals used were made of neoprene and would de-nature in cooking oil. They didn't say which seals or who had said so! Presumably the seals in a Bosch pump would be OK or other manufacturers would have the same problems. Could the comment refer to Fiat seals in the fuel line or jet system?
I still don't know which pump I have on my Multipla. I had expected the pump to be on the rear of the engine which is why I couldn't find it!! It is on the front left but cannot read much of it. Will post details when I can.

Some time ago I wrote to Dieselveg to ask if they had supplied to any Multipla owners. I recieved an email back stating that they had, I then asked if they wouldn't mind forwarding my email add to them with a few questions. This is the reply I got.

" Sorry about the delay,I have had some major PC problems. With regards to the Multipla I have run it on oil for 25,000 miles and it is still going strong.
The first car I converted was a Stilo JTD which is the same engine,I did 25,000 on this as well.If it's done properly you will not notice any difference between Diesel and oil.
Just watch the usual points, only use clean oil ( I filter used oil to 1 micron) only introduce hot oil to the pressure pump and change your lubricating oil every 4000 miles or so.
The Stilo used a three pump system from Elsbett but I am running my own 1 pump system on the Multipla. Any questions let me know."

As I think I may have stated before, as soon as my warranty runs out I shall be purchasing and installing a kit. With Diesel prices now at £1.06 per liter in this area, I am surprised more people havent converted. Soon as I put kit on will let you know how it all goes.

This is the site that I intend to purchase from.
