I am trying to replace one of the rear suspension arms for my MOT on my X reg Mutipla, however I cannot remove the bolt that holds the arm to the chassis I have got the nut off quite easily but the bolt will not extract no matter how hard i hit it (was at it for 2hrs).

Has anyone else had a similar problem and if so how did you get round it I'm totally stumped.

Please help

Soak the bolt head and other end in WD-40 or plus gas, you might find that you have to wind it out using a spanner or ratchet! I know on other Fiat's you can usually just whack them out!

thanks for the help i have already tried to soak them and turn them but the bushes turn with the bolt.

i have bought a new bolt and nut so i'm going to grind the bolt head off and hit from the otherside i just can't get any purchase on it under the car.

I will let you know how I get on

Ok job now done the bolt wouldn't move one bit so i had to grind the arm off and then get at the centre of the bolt and extract it thriough the hollow piece of arm.

Unfortunately I could not see any other way to do this maybe if i didn't just have a 4 inch grinder this might of been far easier.

I don't think I will be taking a job as a mechanic cos this sort of job once a week would send me loopy

Hi there,
best of luck with your Multipla, I wonder if your experience can help answer my question (posted 3 weeks ago) - 'Rear Suspension bushes' / Johnbob. I too have some rear bushes to change and wondered if it could be done in the way I suggested. So if you have a spare minute could you read my post and comment, please? It seems to have been read but no one has left a reply.
:bang:

Believe Multipla is same running gear as Marea as it is a development of said car. When I recently bought a front drop link it was marked Marea.

All i'm gonna say is that if you can get the bolts off cleanly then you may be able to do it but looking at it I don't fancy your chances
