Never have got E-Types...

Only want want because they were introduced the same year the Mk1 homeward was.... :nutter:

Tried to drive one, once... -- not as easy as it looks: very heavy clutch; and what I can only describe as 'weird' steering (and this was concours -- although it could have been down to the tyres, I suppose...). Broke my heart (but saved my wallet...). :(

Still probably the most beautiful car ever made, though. (IMHO.) :worship:

12 answers - I started with ok (being I wouldn't mind but not going to kill to get one), via (no, don't want one but it would be good to sell), and yes (being it's got a place in my 200 car barn!). ;)

Was the stag '60's - I thought it went on sale in 1970, and as you chose the Cooper I've let you have the 1959 Mini ;)

Bl**dy accountants.... ;)

Yes a lot of people say that - I don't quite get it for some reason - it's a nice design but...... I know that's not a popular view, but all art is subjective, and we're in the aesthetic verging on art here. (y)

Absolutely! If we all liked the same thing, life would be utterly predictable and boring. For instance -- keeping on topic, of course... -- there's currently a local exhibition of sculptures by Henry Moore and Auguste Rodin. People flock to the Rodins (which are utterly stunning, and remarkably beautiful...) -- but there's me, on my tod, drooling over the Moores. And I keep on going back.... :nutter:

Anyhoo: the Mk1/2 Panda is a supremely beautiful car; and functional, too.... :slayer:

It certainly has its charms :worship: .

I would like an E-type with modern engine and running gear (y) about 10 years ago it would cost the price of an E-type plus £40,000 to get one made.

Of course the Eagle at £500,000 is very desirable (to me :slayer: ) but as I'm not as rich as Palio I won't ever get one of those.

I agree with that - I'd be there too (y)

Aha Panda's, now we're talking!! :yum:

Not really a fan of any of those cars. I dont get the E type either,it looks like a big watsit extension. However I love Escort MK1,Lotus Cortina,Hillman Imp,Daimler Dart,Delorean (80's) and the original mighty mini. I generally prefer Italian cars they just look so much better than anything else.

I thought I was the only one who didn't quite get the E type :worship:

However I love Escort MK1...

I would kill (honest, officer, this is a metaphorical comment...) to get mine back. Tomato-red Mexico, with twin carbs that went out of a balance in a light breeze... -- but, when it worked, it was wonderful to drive (well, apart from the time the water pump went in the middle of the night, at speed, spilling all the coolant over the M62...). Oh, the memories....

Not mine: but just about identical.... :slayer:

I had a yellow and black Hillman Avenger tiger, much fun to be had (y)

Hi all,

with the show season pretty well mapped-out now,
and @homeward having limits on his endurance..,

I propose we hold the next MI gathering within hobbling distance of his village.

Based around Banbury , Oxon,
on the banks of the beautiful M40 ( within sight of "Prodrive HQ" )

there is a good Café in the area along with a good "country park"

so lets figure out quite when this would be best run,

@ the 10th August looks quiet on the Forum list.., don't think school hols effect too many on here..?

Thats one I would love to get involved with but I happen to be away with my school age children that week :p

I'm going to a hillclimb in Devon that weekend! (n) Never mind I'm more or less out on Sunday's until the end of September now!!

For Midlands fans don't forget MitCar (all cars) is 17th Aug, Blenheim Palace (classics only) on 24th Aug, and Shelsley Walsh (retro cars, so nothing too new) on 31st August. (y)

Have you got a link to this show? I searched on here but haven't found anything yet

That's odd, I can't find the event thread either!! The MitCar page is at:

http://www.mitcar.co.uk

Stu DemonD - apols if I'm tagging you in error, but is there an official FF event thread for MitCar? If not, should there be? :worship:

If it's there and we couldn't see it, blame Bob scout !! ;)

Edit: I found last year's thread.... https://www.fiatforum.com/events/319576-mitcar-2013-midland-italian-car-day.html

Im not on here that often now but im still going to support and attend the Midlands Italia meets when I can. Im on holiday in Cornwall next week and so probably wont be attending any meets this month. August is MITCAR and that will be my only meet that month as its also the Sheffield comic con on the 31st.
