Midland Italia mini meet anytime soon

As a founder member of MI, you'll always be welcome...! (y)

PS: Glad the leads have seen some use: just sorry they haven't solved the problem for you....

glad ill be always welcomed:D

hey, one of these issues that the ECU cant detect, fiat schoolboy error right there!
although ive narrowed it down to a sort of culprit but without compression test i wont know the full extent of the issue, but i will spill the beans for you,

which is a cylinder 1 misfire and its burning oil, the worrying part on this when i took out spark plug #1 it was covered in oil, which imo is not a good sign whatsoever! oil shouldnt be there, as 2-4 all dry although worn out sparkies, replaced all and ht leads and no change, now if oil is getting passed somewhere into the cylinder, so compression test will be done, may even post compression results,

It's looking like the HG, isn't it...?

I know you're tempted to scrap it -- and with the mileage on it, I totally understand why. But, if there's anyone on here capable of doing this himself, it's you. You can get the head skimmed (and not got to all the shenanigans of having the valve seals and seats sorted, etc., like I did...) -- and the parts costs won't be too bad.... (y)

I suppose you're wondering why it went again, so soon, though....

One step at a time, though. Post the compression results in your thread; and let's take it from there.... Good luck....

PS: If the compression test is okay, maybe we are looking at something like the valve stem seals starting to go...? It's why I had new ones fitted....

unfortunately yes it is looking like the HG is at fault, though i can't say 100% on that without getting my hands on the compression figures, which ill be doing later on today buy the tester myself and get tuck in and note the figures down in PSI and BAR for those people who know better in BAR figures and for people who know better PSI figures, i'm more of a PSI person myself, but BARS is also simple but i rarely work with BAR figures even when pumping tyres up:p

now i know i can strip an engine down to the HG itself and replace it but getting it skimmed will cost money along with getting things adjusted correctly, as i dont have the tools to do that sort of thing im afraid, but my intention if hg is at blame it'll be broken for parts and new car before christmas hopefully. could say i dont like parting with cash when ive already spent a ton on it already:( but hey this punto will never be forgotten!!!

ahh shut up, a car is a car dom, we all know you love your fiat , but i do love mine but if hg has blown im not willing to sweat out £300-500 on replacing it!

hey, at one stage in my life i use to hate fiats but did it stop me from buying one? nope i brought one but its unfortunate its done this so soon! no need to slap me for changing to different manufacture(y)

I'm only joking mate. :)

Dom

Im willing to travel within 100 miles of my home!

Without busting my Google Maps out, where is Stroud...

I'll pretty much travel anywhere in the Midlands tbh, I love these meets as the people are all awesome. And I'm from Leicester so that pretty central to everything :p so let's get thinking people

Sam

My good man, pretty much same as me. I'll go anywhere providing work doesn't clash, and i have cash in the bank.

Let's get it on :D

Just checking, you are aware you have to venture out your car for these meets

That's wayy south to me. :p

Dom

Lucky you're a yorkshire-man then, and not a Midlander ;)

Okay, as your beloved leader (who the frell am I kidding...?!), I've made an executive (possibly meaning "cr*p") decision.... :p

As the starter of this thread, MrMurray20, you get the honour(!?) of finding somewhere suitable to meet up...! :D

Some rules:

  1. It must be in Leicestershire.
  2. It must serve good food; and have a reasonably sized car-park.
  3. It must be a short distance from somewhere scenic, for us to take photos of our beloved FIATs.
  4. Someone must be able to collect benny279 on the way (and then take him back... -- if he behaves himself...).
  5. The nearer the Fosse Way, the better (as this runs a couple of miles from where I live...).
  6. It must be a date that most peeps can make... (which usually means a Sunday; and you tell them when...).
How's that for a bank holiday weekend challenge...?

This is the "I'm the leader" instruction. "Thou has spoken"

*this is where we bow*

?........It's why I like pink roses...! ;)

It's not because of any other reason is it? :p

Well I'm in :D..... Leicestershire's the next one up from me although not as good as Yorkshire and no where near as good as the centre of England that is Warwickshire (which you could argue is the centre of the universe ;)) ...... Plus it's kinder on my fuel tank (y)

well ive come to one conclusion which had been simple in my eyes but thats because its very close to me and ive been there a fair few times, bradgate park (big country park) has many different entrances which are all fairly decent for taking pictures as the car parks are a good size. there are also a few decent pubs around there where we could get a drink or a bite to eat when we meet up?

thats the first idea anyway, also, ive always thought that a picture of all our cars parked in a multi story car park would look awesome, ever since i saw a group of seats(ibiza, leons etc) all parked up in the highcross car park in leicester. think all the different sort of fiats would make a very nice picture.

I like the way you think, young sir...! :worship:

I shall set up a short, limited-time poll of possible dates: but can you first post up a Google Maps link of where you want us to meet, please...?

I will then PM all the people on my MI mailing list (somewhere around the 100 mark, currently...) -- so that everyone's aware that this is happening. :)

Thanks for doing this. Much appreciated...! :slayer:
