Tis nice......good job on the bumpers;)

What is RACCOON Autowerks? and what is this turbo'd engine yu speak of?

GrpN Catback Exhaust system on...rattles like f**k, but very nice!!!

Many thanks for praise on my respray.. the body work paint has faded so the colour doesnt quite match, but close enough.

RACCOON Autowerks is a spin off name(long story), part of my own workshop.
I will be building this engine under that name. watch this space.

Elaborate on the engine build....what yu doing?? I will probably be rebuilding a 1242 and slotting that into my Cinq, but im looking to get as much power out as possible without taking it to a specialist!

Hi,
Ive spoken to D&A Fiat breakers, they gave my a queote for a 1108 engine as £175 +vat. I thgouht the 1242 was that price..?

Im going to stick with the 1108 engine, I think that 100hp/litre can easily be acheived. I am planing to lower th compression ratio slightly (CR top secret) to allow around 0.8bar turbo pressure, with multi layed copper spacer plate. The port will be slightly enlarged and polished out. The Valves will be re-profiled. The combustion chambers will be smoothed and polished out.

The piston crowns may be coated in Ceramic heat insulation - this is quite expensive...

I am yet to find a camshaft that has the right characteristics, but I have some cams from AUTOSPRINT engine, Birmingham - they do the Twin Cam Fiat engine, not sure about the f.i.r.e, will enquire.
The Intake charge will be intercooled (only if I can fit my intercooler in the bumper)
I had also thought of water injection to help prevent pinking & this improves intercooling as evapourative cooling. I have been speaking to company that does small cooling jets very cheaply in moulded plastic, but require 3bar (around fuel injection pressure) water pressure to atomise correctly and deliver 40cc/min, perfect for 5000rpm+ cooling.
I will have an oil cooler as well fitted to help the engine temp ( seems to go high in the std 500 anyway..)

The intake manifold will be slightly enlarged and polished and Matched to the head ports. The throttle body will be from the 1242 - as it is slightly larger in size.

I will be keeping lots of pic on my website (If I rem to put them on.)

It might sound OTT, but If youve got an engine on a stand, you can take all the time in thenworld - no rush.. Im looking forward to it..

Youcan see the spec of my last engine on my website - it was sold to a guy who was putting it into his Escort RS2000 Track Car, and was very pleased.

I'll keep you'all posted, and pics will(hopfuly be appearing on my website)

Cool. Fastest Cinq in the country? What holds this record?

All the best

I saw that a company offers tuning parts inc. Complete Heads and Exhaust systems and a chip, that allow 98hp at around 7-8k rpm from the 1108 engine (NA). This is without changing the rods.
So I guess the engine can rev to 8000rpm without the conrods breaking.. Must sound like an F1 car..

Im guessing that If a turbocharged engine can rev to this 8000rpm safly you can extract even more power than I previously thought..

I may push the boat out and look at H-setion rods (very strong) and allow an even higher rpm limit, maybe 10,000 rpm ?? and a set of forged pistons. that would be a minimum of probably £150 a conrod and £50 piston. close to the £1k..

Good luck with it - hope it goes well and stays reliable at 0.8! Make sure the head gasket ain't going anywhere if you wanna run that high consistantly - are you gonna have adjustable boost - what sort of BHP are you looking at getting out of it? I'm running a high boost Van Aaken Turbo at 0.6 (the lowest setting for some semblence of reliability!) and it was originally rolling roaded at 92BHP but with some alterations since it should be at pushing 100BHP by now. Are you getting an oil cooler made specially or have you found a company that makes them - if so where?
It's great fun and you will love it when it's done!
Good luck again!
Cheers,
Matt

I will be expecting atleast 100hp/litre, around 110hp. The VanAaken turbo kit is just a bolt (as it wer) I am rebuilding the entire engine. Reliability is not an issue, my only worry is over heating, if it overcooks, the head gasket will fail. Im looking at how expensive an alloy radiator is to replace the standard one, which will help reduce this risk, along with an oil cooler.

keep it real.

The fastest Cinq I know of is that of a someone on here called "Yaninnya" from Poland. He has a 1.6 Uno Turbo engine in his (I think). Remember reading something about the 200BHP region (if true would give it a power to wieght ratio of nearly 250BHP per ton!)
Very, very fast car I would imagine - loadsa work tho!
