...

I sold it to a mate last month, we were out on Sunday night, it was chucking it down, coming through a little country road, hit a massive puddle, car took off the bank sideways and rolled 2 or 3 times into the field, coming to a stop on its wheels.

If it was not for all 5 of us wearing are seat belts we would be dead for sure.

I sustained a broken sholder, whiplash cuts and bruises, and my mate, mike, the driver took a nasty blow to the head as the roof colapsed on him. the other 3 got out scott free - apart from a few cuts.

I have been well impressed with how well the Punto's are built and how well it did protect us all...

BTW - the 'flood' signs were put up the morning AFTER the crash...

Must be hard to do with a broken shoulder and other injuries

Visions of south parks 'cripple fight' enter head :D

It was a nice lookin W.I.P mk1 punto as well

So long as you got out of it thats all that matters.

How do you know he was driving like a dik? If one of my mates had an accident the last thing on my mind would be to kick the sh*t out of him, idiot.

ok now youve just hurt my feelings:cry:

Hmm, big wheels, low profile and wide tyres, lightweight bodyshell and then a big puddle = skidding and rolling the car? Sounds like aquaplaning was happening, which is why it's not a good idea to fit wide, low profile tyres to a lightweight vehicle...

At least you all got out intact, though the poor Punto obviously didn't fair as well :(

IMO you are very lucky...

Saying they are good cars in accidents is a bit far fetched, my A pillar snapped under near enough the same conditions...only mine was on black ice/diesel going at 50mph.

Certainly slowed me down for a while...

oh twas a 75 too!!!

I've noticed mk1's roll fairly nicely!! theres been plenty of punto's and cinq's roll in the last few months!

Good to see you were OK!

that bit of road looks like quite a new surface too!! I've noticed these new smooth tarmac (low noise) surfaces are absolutly deadly in the wet! unless you've got very tacky wet tyres.
I can aquaplane (controllably) my mk1 right across this 60mph A road carriege was to th other side, then slither back again thru this set of very very wide and open chicanes, at guess, 49mph!!!! tis a complete joke! the taramc simply isn't as grippy as it should be!
