Right... where we go:

History... The car was my stepmum's... my dad bought it her as a runaround, and when i got my driving licence back (yes i know... naughty boy!) my stepmum offered it me for peanuts (£300) with 100500 on the clock.

So when i got her, needless to say she was a little tired. I'm slowly working her up to code and will eventually have her back to her original self!!

So far shes had:

Drums
Shoes
Clutch Cable
Clutch Quadrant
New drivers seat
Offside Rear wheel bearing
Fuel filter
Plugs
Leads
Lambda sensor
Front sus arms/bottom ball joint (both sides)
Bonnet Respray
Boot respray*
Alloys refurbished

She needs:
New offside front wing
new exhaust (all the way I suspect)
Various body panels tidying up
a new carpet
An engine oil leak sorting...
Headgasket
a new engine through bulkhead water hose
a lock return spring
steering wheel
gear knob

So the outside currently looks like this:

My shiney resprayed bonnet! :p

Ouch! :(

No nails holding in the window rubber

Matt black tailgate as i havent finished spraying it yet! (see * above)

There'll be more to follow as i progress. I'll try and get some interior shots as well as some engine bay shots too!!

Glad to see it's coming along well and that you've not let the little beast die, sounds like you'll be learning loads along the way as well (y)

I've rebuilt Peugeots Fords and Vauxhalls before, so a FIAT is definitely a new challange Helz!!

And i'm enjoying it... (y)

Surprised when you repainted the bonnet you didnt remove the badge, also same with the boot and the lock.

unless you plan on keeping it totally standard.

Decided to stay with the original look of the car... Keep it looking plain and get under the bonnet working hard enough to make up for it! ;)

cant fault it, whats the plan for the motor ?

Thinking about the 1242 conversion... from there... who knows... one step a time at the mo, so not really thought too much about the motor... moreso about sorting the bodywork and running gear out... it's gonna be a long job!

Re: My Neglected 10 year old Cinq Sporting - UPDATE

Ok a bit of an update for anyone who's interested...

car.jpg

Decided to pop the dint out of my wing while the inner arch was off today! Looks a bit better

car3.jpg

A pic of my bonnet after T-Cut! :p Shiney Shiney! :p

car4.jpg

car5.jpg

Rubbed down and T-Cut half the boot! lol Will finish tomorrow!

car2.jpg

And decided this was the next bit of bodywork to tackle!!

I've also done the altenator as the bearing was shot and the pulley had become wobbly... it hasn't however cured the tick as the engine runs... so i'm gonna have to trace that, although it's definietly not top end... it sounds likes it something ancillary... will have a look over it when we're back from Wales...

I'll try and add more here as an when i do it for anyone who's interested!!

Keep em coming (y) Good job on the bonnet, try a fine grade fericula (cutting compound) and a finish with some mer (polish) - will be mirror finish as it looks like theres a little orange peel left (where the interior light is reflecting - though probably just the camera)

As for the tick, have you tried listening to the water pump? Also check timing belt tensioner. is the tick coming from the left or the right hand side of the engine?

Cheers luke... it's the Left hand side... will have a look at pump and tensioner tomorrow.

Been cutting it back with rub comp... it's not even been waxed at that! lol :p did it outta rattlers but the garage i'm using isn't the best for it... too much dust.

when i get back from holiday, i'll spend a bit more time on it... just wanted to get a half decent finish for going to wales.. likewise with the boot... it's still peeled badly, and haven't blended fully yet. It needs a lotta time to get it right.

The dint came out well... i'm still gonna have to fill it though... as for the bubble... it's gonna be an arse as i need to take the screen out!!

Know that one well, i shall be doing a full respray on mine. I currently have a rather large hole where yours is rusted (right up to the window wiper mount which i had to remove and convert to a single wiper) so will have to weld up a plate and smooth/spray with the windscreen out. Mind, i do have a chipped windscreen so will need to put new one in anyway ;)

Done a good job using cans though

Just had a thought, if the tick is further down, it could be the oil pump gears are worn causing the tick... else its big ends... Nowt else on the left hand side :)

Defo not big ends... they'd give more of a tap... don't envy you having to weld yours mate.... I can't weld so would have to pay for it!!!

The rattlers gave quite a decent finish... i was actually suprised it took as little work as it did to rectify most of the peel.

I've just been told i'm not allowed to take the windscreen out... my missus has told me i can't! :( (n) Saves me a job i guess will have to work by peeling the rubber back! ;) :p

Thanks mate... i ordered one in from FIAT, but have not been able to pick it up yet as i've been in wales the past week on holiday! :D

Ok... New development!!

Driveshaft overhaul!

After dodgy noises coming from my Nearside wheel, i sourced a 2nd hand driveshaft and swapped it for mine, so i could overhaul it!

See:
checking-driveshaft-wear

Now i've overhauled it i need to put it back on.

I've also found that the Nearside engine mount is shagged... so that's next!
