My new VXR

My new VXR

That would be great yeah, may add a fair bit to the price though, but I'd buy one either way.

This video here courtesy of Miss VXR shows her stage two vxr passing a standard one, about a minute into the video, the guy in the standard one said he tried to go at the same time but had no chance, it's a good indication of the difference after a zorst and remap.

My god that has got to be the most yanworthy video I've ever had the misfortune to watch :p

Wait till i get this hybrid fitted and setup, I reckon I could take ya Koa :nerner:

:p
lol, you're on mate ;) BTW, don't think I'm finished modding mine yet. I have the bug for speed now :D you'll be one of the little purple guys here Pinin :D Come and join the VXR appreciation club mate.

lovely motor.

i'm not a fan of vauxhalls at all, but there is something about AVXR's that i quite like.
Thanks (y)
I think there's a few vauxhalls gonna surprise some people over the next few years, the Zafira VXR is pretty hot for a people carrier. If I was in a position where the Astra was just not big enough i'd buy one of them in a second, in black, slam it and get some wider wheels on it.

The old Zafira GSi was a good looking people carrier if there is such a thing.

I've removed my earlier comment so as not to offend - your videos are better. I thought the production was good (I couldn't have done it) but the content was lacking excitement.
Thanks mate (y) I appreciate that.
I too have deleted my comment.
Maybe if we took the cars on a track we could add more excitement to the videos but then that's a safe environment and would therefore possibly be construed as just as boring as a result.

Just checked AA routemap, you're 5 hours away from me  that's a long way to go just to kick an astra's ass :p Tee hee Like the smiley BTW

So Koa, have you had the wheels done yet? just out of interest are they 18 or 19inch?

Ive sent you a PM about egypt by the way...

whats next on the mod front? larger turbo, port and polish, blueprint? lol

I backed out of the wheel painting at the last minute :( I was just too unsure tbh, and now I'm glad I did. I wanna keep it looking standard as much as possible, and I can use that money to get the power gains instead.
Wheels are 19 inch Chris. They are one of the factors of some confusion towards the 0-62 time of the vxr. The 19 inch wheels get you to 62 in 6.2 seconds. Whereas the 18 inch standard wheels give a time of 6.4.
But the suspension was developed with the 18's on the car so it handles better on them. Personally I prefer the 19's kart like handling and the looks so I am pleased with the choice, especially after the remap.

OK time to clear up some of the confusion about power gains.

The Milltek exhaust is said to give an increase of 15bhp.
So everyone has been thinking that the 15 on top of the 240 standard would give you a car that produces 255bhp. BUT it works out that the full system actually gives more than that but it's higher up the revs that it's seen, so the peak bhp stays pretty much the same but it holds that power right up to the redline, giving a car that pulls hard all the way up the revs, it also allows the car to run cooler than the standard system does, allowing the remaps to give very good power gains without the risk of damage.
My rev limiter has also been extended past 7.5k after the remap, where before the Milltek it would have dropped off around 6k and after the Milltek around 6.5k.

The next performance mod will be a front mounted intercooler to get some more gains from the maps without any overheating issues, then yes maybe a larger turbo to get full benefit from that zorst :slayer:

But I'm leaving it as it is for at least a year because I feel it's already got more than enough power for what I can safely use on the road. In a year I'll be ready for more and I'll be able to judge just what effects the extra power from the map has had on tyres and stuff like that, over £200 a corner is not something I want to replace too often

There's a guy using Regal that's got his vxr up to 340bhp, it's classed as a stage 5, but that much power on a FWD is just nuts, I'd find it difficult to get that down on the roads, too much concentration needed, it would detract from the enjoyment IMO.

Mark.

you mean they don't have an intercooler as std? or do you mean they have one, but cavalier 1.7TD style with it on top of the engine (i.e just their to prevent it totally melting down)?

have to take it to a track day one time, and compare with our saab hot aero, its running a BSR stage 3chip, wastegate actuator, ported wastegate opening, highboost hosing, and a newer type downpipe from a 9-5 HOTaero.
std their mean't to be 205brake, which is damn damn quick (low 6's?) and with traction control on its still holding back in 3rd:eek:
with its BSR kit on, its rumoured to be 265bhp, but the fact of the matter is, they are more than 205brake in the first place, as that is not taking into account the intercooler, so with BSR kit its proberly actually 265bhp in stationary wind as it were, but at say 80mph on a chill morning, maybe more like 320bhp:devil:
at least put this way, you turn the traction control off, you die PERIOD, overtaking it actually quicker in teh punto, as you have to accelerate a tiny bit (overwise you rear end the car in front), let off, pull out, floor it, pull past, let off, whoossh, pull back in, back on the throttle again.

Its the first car I've driven that I have been scared of, and I like it:slayer: the ride is next to appauling but I couldn't give half a

Sorry I should have said "The next performance mod will be a larger intercooler to get some more gains from the maps without any overheating issues, then yes maybe a larger turbo to get full benefit from that zorst" ;)

That Hot Aero sounds like a right blast mate (y) You got any pics ? :)
