....because it was pointless keeping two! :D

I let my 1.2 Active go the other day (sadly):

but instead, I've now got my mitts on a 2.4 Abarth Selespeed :D

First impressions are excellent, and the acceleration (especially when on the motorway already) is pretty damn good! It's weird how the blue colour seems to look lighter on camera than in reality!

So there's another happy Abarth owner here, even if the petrol consupmtion is going to take some getting used to ;).

Thanks to KoArAnG too for the demos on how to use the voice activated satnav and in-car phone system! I haven't had to read the manual yet as a result :)

Cheers

looking good mate - welcome to the stilo abarth club! ;)

whats the full spec?

Cheers :D

It's pretty much as it was from Fiat at the moment, with nothing else added in terms of remapping (still 170bhp), suspension etc. Although in time, I'll probably change that :). The car had done around 17,000 miles when I bought it, and it's in top-condition in terms of bodywork, interior etc. It does have the upgraded speaker system in the boot which is a nice touch ;)

Originally, I was planning on swapping the alloys from old to new, and putting the Claws on the Abarth. I decided not to at the last moment, and now I'm getting cold feet..... I wish I had done, I think....

i prefer them wheels to the claws i think - has it got leather and skyroof?

It hasn't got leather unfortunately, and it doesn't have the skyroof either. I didn't really want the skyroof though to be honest, after seeing them in a few Stilos before :)

Being the Selespeed though, it does have most other in-car accessories as standard, including Connect satnav plus. That's taking some getting used to. One thing I'm really disappointed in, is that you can't listen to a CD whilst navigating (at least, not if the route is altered or changed).

As for the gearbox - I drove it in auto for the first few miles. Having played with the manual shift though, and as I've become better at it, I've not let auto see the light of day since ;)

Well I am thinking about it tbh :)

I have to admit, after I test-drove the Selespeed, I was still a little unsure (scared I'd feel less in control of the car if I couldn't change gear when I wanted). Having taken the plunge and owned the Selespeed for a few days, my view has changed completely! Using the manual shift on the Selespeed is a total dream! Takes a bit of mastering (especially when accelerating hard off the spot and changing from first to second) but once you master it it's fantastic!

I can't recommend it enough! :D

Cheers

Had the car for a couple of weeks now, and have loved every minute of it! Try as I might, I keep stuffing up the change between first and second when in manual mode, and when I'm really hammering it off the line.

Are there any fellow Selespeed owners out there who can offer any tips for the smoothest way to change up from first to second when you're giving it death off the line?

Cheers :)

Either let it hit the limiter, or quickly off the gas then I use the paddle rather than the stick (keeps both hands on the wheel) takes a little practice to get it just right but its fun learning  Glad you're enjoying the abarth I love mine........:D

Cheers Froggie! :D

I've been letting off the gas before changing, but I'm still jolting the car a bit! Will take some getting used to I think ;)

Having said that, I've noticed that my coolant is way below the minimum level today. I'm pretty sure it was full just a week ago. I've not been hammering it too much at all, so I hope something terrible hasn't happened....

If you really want to boot it, just don't ease up - nail it, let it hit the limiter, and let it change into 2nd - you may get a slight judder, or if you time it right, change up with the paddle just before you hit the limiter....

Cheers Stuart :)

I'll give that a good go in the near future. Right now, I'm about to actually put some coolant in the damn thing, and see if that drains away rapidly. I seriously hope there isn't a major problem, especially as I've only had it 3 weeks :(....

Cheers

The easiest way to change up from 1st to 2nd without judder is just don't take your foot off the throttle!(y) I would never advise letting it hit the limiter specially as peak power is at 6000rpm anyway so there's nothing to be gained by over revving it.;) Glad you're pleased with the car though they are nice.
