Dear friends i am from Malta so excuse my bad English i just want to share a problem of Fiat Punto ,
some time ago i have bought this car was advert for spares or repairs
the problem was that this car is very low on power it runs
and starts but just wont rev high max speed on flat road on 2nd gear was just 40 km ( Not MPH )
the seller told me that he gave up trying to fix this car as he and abt 3 mechanics changed a lot of parts
even replaced head gasket / Fuel Pump / Ecu/ all Sensors and much more to mention on computer no fault codes
so he told me i sell it as it is , i took the risk and bought this car with cheap price of 200 euro the car
has only 54K year of manufacture 2002 anyway i kept thinking all night in bed what the hell
can be the fault next morning went to the garage near the car what came
to my mind to take out the 2 silencers ( Not the one under the manifold Catalytic Converter )
and as i was in a privet aria i went to try it out with out silencers i could not believe
the car came very livery and revs up and top 2nd gear came 75 km on flat so problem solved
next day went to a silencer repair garage and did only one silencer instead of 2 it had and was still silent
now im happy
i am saying all this as i see there is a lot of people that have same problem tks for reading

Interesting. Maybe every garage needs a pressure testing adapter to fit onto an oxygen sensor connection?

Hi yes a pressure testing would be very helpful the guy i bought from would have saved a lot of money , when the old silencers was out we noticed the main pipes and small holes in silencer was blocked by fibreglass hair they was still factory so worked for 17 years so im thinking Fiat Punto of this age will need silencer replacement

interesting again. I have no idea what back pressure should be normal. Fortunately my silencers were replaced a long time ago.

Hi Buddy not sure if a back pressure can be done with out taken silencers of the car best you can do is at a silencer repair garage , May i ask do you have a problem at your car is it same as was mine with low engine power

My car runs OK. It was just interesting to learn about the problem you had and how it was not easily identified. No worries!
