Hi all, I an back into Fiat ownership following early retirement and subsequent car change. I have a lovely 15’ Panda Cross Twinair and following a somewhat traumatic and expensive quest to acquire a remote key, which it lacked, I am now trying to solve the issue of disabling the rather piercing lock/unlock beeps that seem to come from the alarm module or speaker. I have noticed that there is a small button and red LED inside the car that appears to be connected to the alarm system (the LED lights / flashes when the car locked or the doors are open etc) I’m wondering if this is how you adjust any alarm settings, or what the button on it actually does? It seemed to have an effect on one occasion when the alarm would not stop going off, but if there is a sequence of presses that allow you to stop the beeps that anyone is aware of?
Many thanks in advance!

Hi and welcome back :)

Im intrigued by the key issue..

How did you go about chipping and coding?

This might be related.. I've certainly got nothing other than locks clonking
and a flash of the indicators..

I assume if you bought a car with no official key.. then owner manuals are also missing?

I agree there is probably a sequence.. or menu operation.. to swap modes

My manual is 110 miles away.. so as good as lost also

I don't think any Panda ever came with a factory fitted alarm system. It sounds like you've got the dealer fit accessory alarm which is a Meta system. I found the installation instructions online (https://www.yumpu.com/es/document/read/18720978/m8199-fiat-panda-2012-meta-system) but it doesn't seem to give any clue on how to turn off the beep.

I know from meta alarm on Alfa's I've owned before that there is a way to switch off the arm/disarm beep. I seem to remember you had to press the bonnet contact in a specific sequence. I've included the sequence for the Alfa 916 (no idea if it would work with yours to be honest)

If your alarm system is set for a country where the car alarm is required to auto-arm itself then this will be the reason your alarm is auto-arming itself. You can change the country code of the alarm using the following procedure. If you set it to "United Kingdom" then the alarm will not auto-arm itself...
Open the bonnet
Turn ignition key from MAR to STOP
Within 15 seconds of this, the bonnet switch must be pressed 7 times in less than 10 seconds
5 beeps will indicate entry into manual diagnosis mode. During these 5 beeps press the switch once again, a long beep will signify entry into country code programming mode. Keep the switch pressed throughout the duration of the long beep
Release the switch and then press it (within 10 seconds) the number of times to correspond to the country code required (see below). Each press will be acknowledged with a beep

1 - Italy
2 - Germany
3 - France
4 - Switzerland
5 - United Kingdom
6 - Holland
7 - USA
8 - EEC
9/10 - Others
Each country code has slight differences, some beep when armed, some don't, some have different alarm tones to others and some are louder.

You have an after market alarm fitted (Since no Pandas were sold with one from the factory) so there’s no need to look in the Panda owners handbook. It may be a Fiat accessory, or maybe not! You will likely need to ask the supplying dealer (assuming they were the original seller too). Is there by any chance a sticker on a window saying ‘alarm fitted’ that shows the brand of alarm?

Hi, many thanks for help and suggestions, I think it may be a dealer fitted alarm, I got the car from Woodliegh Fiat in Chesterfield and it only had a service key, I’m not sure if they originally supplied the car as they are no longer a dealership. I eventually got a replacement remote key coded for £100 (Park Royal). It’s been doing the loud beep unlock / double loud beep lock since that. There’s nothing about the alarm system in the manual or paperwork. With the button press process, theres no button under the bonnet, so maybe the LED button inside can be used? I noticed that the LED comes on if a door is opened but not for the bonnet, and the beeps definitely come from the alarm speaker in the engine bay. Anyway I’ll give it a go and report back,
Many thanks again!
